Lactobacillus and Bifodobacterium are the most studied bacteria for digestive health and closely resemble the body's natural good bacteria.
Phillips' Colon Health is formulated with a probiotic blend to:
– Help replenish the good bacteria in your digestive tract to promote overall digestive health.
– Help with occasional digestive upsets, including constipation, diarrhea, gas and bloating.
– Help support a healthy immune system.
– Help naturally support regularity*.
What are probiotics?
Probiotics are live microorganisms that are similar to beneficial bacteria that live naturally in your digestive tract. When taken daily, probiotics can help support digestive and immune health*. You may think of bacteria as something harmful to your body, but it's important to have a balance of good bacteria in your digestive tract.
How do probiotics work?
Your digestive tract acts as a host to good bacteria. Probiotics can help supplement the good bacteria in your digestive tract. When taken on a daily basis, Phillips' Colon Health can help support digestive health*.
Why take a probiotic?
Common lifestyle factors such as age, diet, health status and stress can change the balance of bacteria in your digestive tract. Taking a probiotic helps add or replensih good bacteria to help with problems such as occasional constipation, diarrhea, gas and bloating*. Since 70% of your immune system is in your digestive tract, a healthy digestive tract can also help support immune health*.
How do I choose a probiotic?
Keep in mind the following facts when selecting a probiotic:
– Probiotics contain different types of bacteria. The two most common and most studied types of bacteria found in probiotics belong to the groups known as Lactobacillus and Bifodobacterium, both of which are in Phillips' Colon Health.
– Expiration dates are preferred over manufactured dates. Probiotics are live microorganisms. That means they should be alive when you take them. To make sure you are getting the amount of live bacteria as stated on the package, choose a probiotic that has an expiration date as opposed to a manufactured date or "best by" date.
– The reputation of the company counts. It is important to select a probiotic from a trusted, responsible company. Phillips' has been in the digestive health business for over 140 years, is backed by Bayer and we stand behind the benefits and safety of our products.

Probiotic bacteria supplements are very popular, and for good reason. "Good bugs from yogurt" were once considered a solution to digestive issues like irregularity and nothing more. But we now know that gut health and the collection of healthy bacteria in our gut (called microbiome or gut flora) play key roles in several seemingly unrelated chronic diseases like obesity, allergies, rheumatoid arthritis, and depression.
Some specific types of probiotic bacteria strongly influence our mood - they help produce most of the neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine in the gut.
Other probiotic strains have been shown to reduce cholesterol. And yet others help ease colic in newborns.
We all have unique blends of probiotics in our guts. We get them from our mothers during birth and then through breastfeeding. After that, we get more from the environment (mostly dirt). By age three, our probiotic fingerprints are established, so it is critical that you expose to your kids to fermented foods, pets, probiotics, and yes, even dirt at an early age.
Children born via C-section, then fed formula, or given antibiotics, and raised in ultra clean homes have poor gut bacterial diversity.Read more ›
Also, I noticed on this site it says for adults to take two capsules twice a day with meals, but on the actual bottle it says take one capsule daily with a meal, which is what I do.
