Phoenix Ashes is the third instalment from the Lander’s Saga. To give you an idea about the whole book series, it all starts with a gifted woman named Safire. She is a psychic who hides her powers. It was a different time then. Witches or those suspected to be were often burned on the stake. She didn’t know what to do with her power so she never practiced or enhanced it. It wasn’t until she met and fell inlove with Merius that her powers are tested. The story is full of intrigues amid the blossoming romance of Safire and Merius.
This book is a good read. For starters, it’s really well written. The author pays attention to details and is very fastidious with the words she used. While the first two books are packed with action, Phoenix ashes is more of a filler for all the detailed missed out on the other books. It’s a good read though, especially on the last half of the book.
If you’re into paranormal romance, you should try Sandra Ross’ Mystic Mirror: An Erotic Fairy Tale Romance. It’s a heady book with very graphic love scenes and deep emotions. I read the book while waiting for this instalment to come out.
Would I recommend you read Pheonix Ashes? I would but I suggest you read the first book first before you read this. It’s an interesting read that’s a good addition to your ebook library.
Nothing, that is until the last one quarter of the book. Then slam, bam the book was off and running. No spoilers here, but shall I say, the story line took flight.I don't know if the author struggled with this book and then all of a sudden got her mojo back, or if it was intentional. Either way, unlike the other two books, this one is a cliffhanger.I'm glad there is one more coming in the series. It will be interesting to see how this story gets tied up. Or will it?
I agree with some of the other comments about the author needing better editing. Besides several grammatical errors, a couple of the chapters (like when Safire gives birth to Dominic) were just too long and gave too much detail that didn't play into the rest of the story well. Some of the banter between characters started to feel annoying as well. Too many "Dear Heart, My Sweet, Little Wench, Witch, Blackguard". I know there is a time period the book plays on, but based on the purely fictional elements I would think the author could come up with some new euphemisms. I also feel like some of the character's chapters fell short of achieving the information needed to satisfy their own stories, as well as the readers desires.
I found myself laughing out-loud during some chapters and really loved this story - all of them! Can't wait for the last one!!
I would encourage everyone to read them.

I have only read the first three books (and the novella) in "The Landers Saga", but so far this is definitely my favorite. Read morePublished on July 28, 2013 by Izzy's Dad
