About the Author

As a child, Karen suffered frequent bouts of insomnia. The only way she could settle into sleep many nights was to imagine stories that played out like movies on the dark ceiling over her bed. Since her mean parents refused to replace the TV after the cat blew it up by peeing on the cord, all Karen had left to entertain herself in the lone wilds of the Minnesota wilderness were books and her own stories. As Karen grew, the stories grew with her. One day when she was fourteen, she told her mother one of these stories for probably the hundredth time. Her mother, who knew Karen very well, turned to her and said, “You know, Karen, you keep talking about these stories, but you never write them down. You keep saying you’re going to write a novel, but I don’t believe that you will.” This comment infuriated Karen so much that she started writing her stories down and hasn’t stopped since.

Easy to read. Point of view different and gives it a unique feeling when reading. Love the story and the characters. I recommend this full series to anyone who likes Sci-Fi Fantasy, emotionally character driven novels and the feeling of being in a different universe.

The Lander’s saga has captured my imagination from the minute I finished the first book. Since then, I have been waiting for every sequel just to find out what the ending is going to be. It’s been a long wait but so far, it’s been worth it.
Phoenix Ashes is the third instalment from the Lander’s Saga. To give you an idea about the whole book series, it all starts with a gifted woman named Safire. She is a psychic who hides her powers. It was a different time then. Witches or those suspected to be were often burned on the stake. She didn’t know what to do with her power so she never practiced or enhanced it. It wasn’t until she met and fell inlove with Merius that her powers are tested. The story is full of intrigues amid the blossoming romance of Safire and Merius.
This book is a good read. For starters, it’s really well written. The author pays attention to details and is very fastidious with the words she used. While the first two books are packed with action, Phoenix ashes is more of a filler for all the detailed missed out on the other books. It’s a good read though, especially on the last half of the book.
If you’re into paranormal romance, you should try Sandra Ross’ Mystic Mirror: An Erotic Fairy Tale Romance. It’s a heady book with very graphic love scenes and deep emotions. I read the book while waiting for this instalment to come out.
Would I recommend you read Pheonix Ashes? I would but I suggest you read the first book first before you read this. It’s an interesting read that’s a good addition to your ebook library.

Phoenix Ashes is the third installment of the Landers Saga by Karen Nilsen. While it continues to follow the love story of Safire and Merious,it also gives more time to the other members of the House of Landers. While the other books chronicled the adventures of the two lovers, this one was more of a day to day in the life of the family.I plodded along with the book, and every so often I got the sense that something was going to happen,then...nothing.
Nothing, that is until the last one quarter of the book. Then slam, bam the book was off and running. No spoilers here, but shall I say, the story line took flight.I don't know if the author struggled with this book and then all of a sudden got her mojo back, or if it was intentional. Either way, unlike the other two books, this one is a cliffhanger.I'm glad there is one more coming in the series. It will be interesting to see how this story gets tied up. Or will it?

I have eagerly awaited this 3rd volume, and am already anticipating the 4th! The character's are more real now than ever and I have really enjoyed getting to "know" them more throughout the Saga.

I agree with some of the other comments about the author needing better editing. Besides several grammatical errors, a couple of the chapters (like when Safire gives birth to Dominic) were just too long and gave too much detail that didn't play into the rest of the story well. Some of the banter between characters started to feel annoying as well. Too many "Dear Heart, My Sweet, Little Wench, Witch, Blackguard". I know there is a time period the book plays on, but based on the purely fictional elements I would think the author could come up with some new euphemisms. I also feel like some of the character's chapters fell short of achieving the information needed to satisfy their own stories, as well as the readers desires.

I found myself laughing out-loud during some chapters and really loved this story - all of them! Can't wait for the last one!!

I would encourage everyone to read them.
