5.0 out of 5 stars The Muses can be proud
By Dorothy on February 11, 2019
In Phoenix Soars Beth and young family Secret away from their Colorado cottage to escape a threatening evil. The Evil has resource and cunning to follow them to their new life in India. She is captured and carried off into bondage and servitude. She suffers merciless flogging, a harrowing escape and long journey in a dangerous primitive wild country. A multitude of voices, signs and dreams answer her yearning pleas to guide, warn and comfort her. Sage council from a grandmother, messages in scripture, wordless communications between lovers and between mother and newborn child, recognized answer to prayers and the mysterious glossolalia comfort her in trials.
Reading Michelle's three Novels kept this plodding reader occupied for several evenings, I was prodded to ponder how the Deity and Creation replies to our mortal yearnings and how each of us may interpret the revelations. Among Beth’s kin, I found a glimpse of a long-ago friend who forsook the warm coasts of Corpus Christie and was enticed by the voices to the far-off Colorado Sangre de Christo Mountains.
The three Phoenix novels were Written by Michelle Stevens ages ago, before she disguised her persona, masked her face and began transcribing “delicious erotic fantasies”. She must now be hearing the giggling mocking chorus of the Sisters of Pierids who were banished from Pegasus’ Olympian Fountains of music, poetry, mirth and wisdom. Howsomever! for the Phoenix trilogy I award: Five ☆s for Phoenix of the Hart + Five ☆s for Phoenix Reborn & Five ☆s for Phoenix Soars. In Old School Math I believe that is still Fifteen:
