I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an amazing story of love and romance, yes, but also of growth and finding yourself and who you were truly meant to be!
I greatly look forward to reading more from Claire Gem! I'm so happy to have stumbled upon such a talented author! Thank you!!!
Initial thoughts: Perfect blend of romance and one woman's personal journey. With so many feels.
What I loved: The well-paced storyline was pretty unique. And coming from someone who seeks out unorthodox romance (mainly wounded heroes) that's saying a lot.
Ahhh, the emotions. I felt all the emotions in the land. I smiled, frowned, giggled, gasped, and may have wanted to strangle certain people at some points. This is a very good thing.
Lannie. Let's talk about Lannie, shall we? I adored her. I'd have coffee and chitchat with her. I'd even go see a chick flick (eww!) with her if she lost her mind and asked me to. Now, don't get me wrong because I have zero issue disliking or even hating characters as long as they're believable. I'm actually a fan of that warm and fuzzy love-to-hate-em feeling. But, hey, it was super refreshing to find such a well-written main whom I actually wasn't tempted to stab in the eye with my pen. Lannie, let's do lunch sometime. Call me. Seriously, though, fantastic heroine.
The dynamic between her and Tristan was spot on too. Believable, sizzling, sweet, and the ending? Oh, man. I'm not usually one for cheese but if cheese is written like that? I will gladly consume the delicious cheese. In vast amounts.
What left me wanting: Darn indie books have been so freakin' good lately, I keep requiring gif-assistance (is that a legit thing?) because honestly? I half-expected to be like this: [unimpressed-looking gif you can see on Goodreads] And instead, I totally ended up like this: [Aww-that's-so-sweet gif you can also see on Goodreads]
Thank you to Gem for chiseling away at my black, calloused heart. Wasn't sure it could be done.
Final thoughts: Highly recommend to fans of women's fiction and/or romance, as well as readers looking for something a little bit different with a whole lot of feels thrown in.
What a sexy and entertaining story! So relevant to people who find themselves in a mid-life crisis. Is it possible to make a new life after a marriage ends? Can you pursue the dreams of youth? Lannie’s story is proof of how difficult it is to rise from the ashes, but how sweet the journey.
After obsessing over a famous drummer of her son's favorite band, she finds herself in an interesting once in a lifetime position and she jumps at the opportunity. The book is filled with, thrills, love, betrayal, and the struggles of a woman who is trying to find herself and her life as it would've been before she gave everything up for her cheating husband and their child.
This book is well written, and keeps the reader engaged throughout its entirety. I am not a huge fan of romance novels, but this book and Lannie won me over. I enjoyed following her story and watching her work through her struggles and overcome the misfortunes she endeared.
And then, she is given another challenge to deal with.
The character development was so good in this book and had me feeling so many emotions. I laughed, felt a little sad, held my breath and cheered for Lannie's strength and Tristan's devotion . No spoilers here, but do yourself a favor and pick up this book.
I happily received an advance copy of this book as a gift.
