Girl Riley is a nurse and lives in Oak Creek. She is part of the Linear Tactical Team family and is a giving, nurturing, and loving person. She is full of life and loves helping her friends and family as well as those that need medical help. She met the man of dreams while working the Wild Wyoming Adventure Race three years ago and they have been together since. Their relationship is heading for disaster though because Girl Riley received some bad news and she doesn’t want to keep Boy Riley locked down.
I love this series and each book seems to get better and better. This book dealt with some tough issues, but it was written so honestly and wonderfully. It showed how two people can share their lives, but still be afraid of how things can turn out and the commitment that life can take to be there for the people we love the most. It dealt with illness, death, and revenge, but the story had so much depth. I give it a 4.5-star review and would recommend it to readers who like tactical, adventure, tough life issues, or touching romances. It will draw you in and tug at your heart strings. Janie Crouch writes wonderful stories that are so hard to put down. I can’t wait for Baby’s story next.
Phoenix, an extreme sports sensation and undercover operator for Linear Tactical, and Riley, a nurse, fell in love at a WAR competition set up by the LT guys where Phoenix was competing. They've been a very serious item for three years, but then Riley gets some news that will forever change her life. In dealing with it, she pushes Phoenix away to the point of breaking up with him. Phoenix returns to Oak Creek determined to find out what Riley is hiding from him. His excuse for being there? To compete in WAR.
This book is slightly different than the other Linear Tactical books by focusing a lot on Phoenix and Riley's relationship, but has a nice amount of suspense and action to go with it. It's just an awesome book! This book gave me a definite urge to go back and reread the entire series again. It can definitely be a standalone, but the characters from the previous books are definitely included in this one. Love it!

Phoenix was such a fantastic read, and I fell in love with Girl and Boy Riley! This book starts off with suspense that immediately sucked me in, but it was the connection between the characters that kept me turning pages and loving every moment of this story. The Riley’s story is emotional and had both heartwarming and heartbreaking moments.
As ever, I loved the cameo appearances of previous characters and was captivated from start to finish in this well written and captivating tale. This series is addicting and so well written by Janie Crouch and definitely well worth the read.
