Featuring DTS' breakthrough Play-Fi Technology, the slim, elegant PR1 Receiver lets you stream high quality audio right from your iPhone/iPad/iPod/Android phone, tablet, Windows PC, or Kindle Fire, over the existing Wi-Fi network in your home. Music streams with pure, lossless quality to the PR1, and the receiver sends analog audio directly out to your home sound system. Add more PR1s, and/or Phorus PS1 Speakers, in other rooms, and you have a truly wireless whole-home audio solution. The PR1 includes Bluetooth and Airplay connectivity, too, giving you a full range of wireless connectivity options for your current stereo system. Choose a song, sit back, and enjoy music at home the way it was meant to be, only from Phorus.
Pure Audio In, Direct Audio Out
Stream clean, lossless audio from your iPhone, iPad, iPod, Android phone, tablet or Kindle Fire over Wi-Fi, and the Phorus PR1 Receiver outputs it directly to your stereo through the included line-in or RCA connector. We selected top-of the line audio components, so the sound will do your system proud. The PR1 also supports streaming via Bluetooth and Airplay.
Play-Fi's 'Hi-fi over Wi-Fi' takes music listening to a whole new level. The PR1 works everywhere your network does, so you can stream to any room in the house. Streams are pure, bit-for-bit, lossless audio, for uncompromised quality sound.
Loads Of Music Choices
The free Phorus app for Android and iOS gives you a world of music options. New services and features are added with app updates, so your PR1 just keeps getting better and better.
Designed With Mobile In Mind: Bluetooth And Device Charging

You can also charge your device with the included USB connector cable.

This thing is AWESOME. I connected it to my home stereo and in less than 4 minutes after unboxing it. I could have done it in 2 minutes but I forgot my wi-fi password. I was impressed the Phorus Receiver works exactly like the Phorus wi-fi speakers I purchased, so I didn't have to learn anything new to use it. They all connect together through my wi-fi router so I have music everywhere in the apartment now. Within an hour of setting the system up I realized it had seamlessly converted my Kindle Fire and HTC phone to serve as whole-home juke Box's serving up music to my home stereo in the living room and to the Phorus Speakers in my bedroom and kitchen.
We had a sort of impromptu party last night while all my friends randomly picked up my kindle from the cocktail table and picking songs they wanted to hear. Later on my neighbor came over and was able to download the app and play music he had on his phone throughout the rest of the evening. It really is a great system that almost connects itself to your wi-fi. You just have to give the app your wi-fi password once. So here's a tip: make sure you have your wi-fi password handy when you do the initial setup. Everything after that is super easy.
First off, the instructions are not too clear if you're trying to connect this to use through a stereo receiver. The minimalist instructions said to first pair it with your router-which we did, no problem. We then looked on Amazon Apps for the Play-fi app: it's not called 'Play-fi', it's actually called 'Phorus'-would have been nice to know. Successfully downloaded the Phorus app, and that's when we had problems.
Even though the Phorus PR1 Receiver was right next to the Kindle, it found only the Phorus speakers (which we did not buy!), and kept saying it could not pair because no device was found-receiver? speaker?-a bit different from each other! So we thought, OK, get it away from the router (since we'd already made the wifi connection) and move it to where the stereo receiver is. At that point, it lost the wifi, got hung up trying to download an update for the speakers that we don't have, and frustration set in.
To solve our problems, we removed the app, then pushed the button to reset the Phorus receiver to factory specs. We connected to our wifi extender instead of the router and reinstalled the app. Still no go, so we kept trying this (remove the app, reset to factory specs) several time.Read more ›
update 9th November 2013
So I've had the basic receiver 3 weeks now, been testing WAV lossless vs MP3, vs my CD player...this receiver and DAC are definitely good enough to differentiate, and WAV lossless sounds identical playing from my smartphone as it does direct from the CD...that is exactly what I was looking for. So, now bought another receiver for a hi-fi set-up in another room, and one of the PS-1 speakers. Easy to set up (literally had it all working five minutes out of the box) and very conveniently create speaker setups with different combos e.g. kitchen and lounge, or lounge and addition, or all 3. The co-ordination is perfect as it is over Wi-Fi, and the PS-1 speaker is very good. I have a Bose Bluetooth soundlink which is fine by the firepit after a few beers and half a bottle of wine, but the PS-1 is way better. It seems a bit pricey at $200, but then it has a wireless receiver as well as the speaker, and the quality is such that I feel it is a good deal.
I had one quibble with the app...no playlists so I contacted the support email, I got a great response within a day telling me that the engineers will be including one in the next update in November. I found the support was really, good...Read more ›
