When the nightmare begins for Kate, I seriously cried! The details the emotional story line pulls you right into it so you feel the pain, the humiliation, everything Kate feels you begin to feel!! As her sister Annie tries to help and gets her to the hospital the real reactions of Derrick comes to the surface as he runs away when Kate needs him the most!!!!
I don't want to give to much away but Kate has more strength than most..as you continue to read this you will understand everything she has went thru and overcame and then WHAM!!!! More loss more pain is she strong enough or will this break her, shatter her, or will she be the winner and overcomes everything and come out happy and In one piece???
I usually don`t read books written in 3rd POV. But since I bought the box set, I said - why not :)
This is not a sweet romance, it`s everything but. We meet Kate, who has been through a lot in her life. She only has her sister, and they are really close.
One day she meets a handsome stranger Derrick in a coffee shop, where she likes to hang out. He is everything she wants. They start dating and everything seems fine, until she is attacked one day. She ends up in a hospital, but Derrick just bailes her, insted be there for her. I really didn`t like him at that moment. I wanted to beat some senses into him.
She is scared and left broken. her sister is the only one who stays by her side, while she heals.
I`m glad Derrick came to his senses and came crawling back.
The story picks up right where it left off in part 1. There is way more action than in Tainted bodies. We learn more about Kate`s attacker, she wasn`t his only victim, there were many of them. Derrick is really protective, which I like, he showed more affection and love toward Kate and was determind to find the man who did this to Kate.
I was surprised when I found out who The Photographer was. Wasn`t expected it at all!
This was my favorite part. It was filled with angst and love. I was anxious to see what happens next.
I never thought there would be so many twists and turns at the end. I cried, laughed and yelled at the same time. It was a bit surprising to me that Kate could so easily accept the apology from a person from her past. I know I wouldn`t be so forgiving.
It was a beautiful conclusion to one heck of a story :)
The Photographer Trilogy is three books in one. I’m going to review the overall story at once instead of each book. Warning: This book deals with sexual assault. If that topic is a trigger for you, this might not be the book for you. Mrs. Robinson is an excellent job discussing the matter. While the scenes were awful, they were not gory or used wording to avoid describing the extent of the violence in them.
Kate in the beginning really annoyed me. She’d let everyone walk all over her. But throughout the book, with everything that happened to her, she grew into an incredibly strong woman. She shined so brightly at the end of the book. I was proud of her.
Derrick. At one point, I wanted to throw my Kindle, my precious, across the room because I was so mad at him. Thankfully he pulls his head out of his butt, got in the game and proved he was a man. By the end of the book, I was singing his praises.
I loved Detective Snow and McCraig in this book. Det. Snow is a female detective that works the case for Kate. She is tenacious and smart. The banter between Snow and McCraig is wonderful and I enjoyed them very much.
As far as the story, I enjoyed it very much. The story moved steadily long. As the story’s intensity increased so did the pace of the story. I liked that a lot. The intensity of the story made you not want to put the story down or feed your kids. Unfortunately, I did figure out who the Photographer early on. I didn’t put together all the pieces until closer to the end. In no way did that take away from the story that was told.
Overall, I like the story and recommend it to anyone looking for a romance crime thriller.
