This is an old book and the artwork is printed on relatively low quality paper - so the experience of seeing these B&W masterpieces is less than it should be. That said, the book is packed with full page montages from the author's prolific career. One doesn't even need to know German to appreciate.

these fabulous iconic works are oddly hard to come by, this book is a comprehensive collection of heartfields stabs at national socialism. its worth remembering that heartfield was a staunch communist, a true believer. this book is a gem. i would have preferred a larger format and better paper but glad i am, to finally own a collection of these montages. heartfield is a must for those interested in photography and/or political history
