I like Taschen Books a lot. I own several of their titles and I am almost always pleased by their good prices, the high quality of their art reproductions, and the excellent written commentary that they use. This particular title, however, was a huge disappointment to me. The book is small. I assumed that they would make up for this by blowing up the images so they fill each page to capacity. Instead, the photos are actually quite small. Many of them are only around 1.5" by 2". This reduces their impact and makes the fine details disappear. I expected more from Taschen.

This is a small book with content almost, but not quite, identical to that of "Photo Icons: The Story Behind the Pictures". I was lured into buying it by the "frequently bought together" feature. Now I will give the book as a gift since the content is not new to me.

The Taschen Icon series is a great way of delving into Taschen's image holdings for a low cost. The books are well-made, generally well-written, and may lead to you a bigger book investment later. This book is a scratch at the surface of well-known photographs, many from editorial/news sources.
