An in-depth look at quantum mechanics—without sacrificing accessibility.

While reading this book, I was continually astounded by the fact that it was written by a then-high schooler. How many teenagers could even understand the complicated world of quantum physics, let along forge fresh theories to advance it—then explain it to the layman? It truly is hard to wrap my mind around the idea that this book was written by such a young man.

And that's not just because of the depth of knowledge he has in these matters, either. As a university student studying mathematical physics, quantum field theory, quantum physics, and theoretical physics, it's to be assumed he's no stranger to complex subjects that would boggle most minds.

But what really makes this book stand out is the accessibility. I won't pretend to grasp it all to the fullest extent. I'm sure plenty of aspects are going to be over the heads of people without the kind of education (and intelligence) the author clearly possesses. Still, you don't have to be a quantum physicist to get a sufficient understanding of the ideas he lays out in this book. Being a theoretical physicist and being a talented writer are entirely different fields. Fortunately, the author displayed a shocking level of competency in both while still in high school.

As for the subject of the book itself, the author's QCI hypothesis is absolutely fascinating. Anyone with even a passing interest in these sorts of subjects will doubtless be enthralled by this work—as I was. Better yet, because of the author's obvious prose writing skills, you'll likely understand much more than you would otherwise.

Five starts without any reservations. I couldn't recommend this book enough.

A great layman's introduction to quantum theory,with a twist. Easy to read and well communicated.The author, a high school student, has written an engaging survey of quantum weirdness. He doesn't get into a lot of math in the main text but there is an appendix for physicists,with plenty of math. The author's major achievement is a discussion of his own theoretical contribution. I am not a mathematician, but what he does is incorporate imaginary numbers into quantum theory in a way that has not been done before. The mathematics of his theory is laid out in the appendix for physicists and is beyond my level of understanding- leads to a unique approach to the " many worlds" interpretation of quantum theory.He riffs on Carl Sagan's " star ship of the imagination" to take the reader on a journey through some of these parallel universes where the laws of physics are different from those of our own world.All in all the book is a fun and fascinating read, I suspect that this young author will have more contributions to make in physics, math and cosmology soon.

Can't believe the author is so young. The sad thing is I only heard of this book due to a "controversy" with the author. America idolizes sports stars and ignores horrible indiscretions and the media sings praise to them. This bright young man stood up for himself and that's the only reason I heard about him. The mob that was harassing him tried everything they could to destroy his life. Our best and brightest are ignored for sports and rap stars.
The book is great too. Easy to read for a layman like myself. Can't wait to see what this kid accomplishes.

I thought it was a well delivered theory, even if it's basis is a bit questionable.
While I was not left entirely in agreement with Julian's ideas, I was able to understand the reasoning behind his viewpoints, which I would not have considered previously.

It does come off as a bit rushed, the book is quite short considering the depth of the subject discussed. Only 160 or so pages of content in a large font.
I suspect this is done to leave room for a sequel, which I am already anticipating!
