Our heroine is just packing up her widow's weeds when her stepdaughter's tutor arrives -- only the man is a substitute for the piano teacher who was hired. He is young, good looking and smells wonderful. He was recommended by our heroine's best friend as a man who was talented with his hands.

The couple almost immediately begin an improper flirtation -- lots of innuendos. At a musical at the best friend's house, the couple wanders off and engages in sex.

I realize this is merely a short story and events need to move along quickly, but the jump from sex to love was a hair's width. There was nothing to give me any connection to the characters. They were a good looking pair and . . . what? We get the idea she is a loving stepmother, but nothing about the hero at all.

This is a so-so story, but a very quick one. The reader won't feel like they have wasted a whole afternoon.

I just finished The Piano Tutor. A great read, Anthea Lawson does it all in this short story. Plot, conflict, passion, and great characters.

I'm a huge fan of Anthea's longer works, so it was a no-brainer to pick up The Piano Tutor. The length may be shorter, but the quality is just as stellar as always. Anthea has a way with words - she's a very lyrical writer and infuses as much passion as a full-length romance into these short pages with ease. Love, love, love! I'm looking forward to her next venture.

I loved this story. It wasa wonderful, quick read. I loved the characterization, the story itself, the tie to music, and, most of all, the ending.

The Piano Tutor was a delightful quick read. It was nice watching Diana Waverly grow as a person and come out of her shell. Nicholas Jameson and Lucy Pembroke are colorful characters who enrich the story. Anthea deftly crafted the historical English setting and wove musical themes throughout the narrative with a suprise twist at the end. I highly recommend it.

Easy read with not much depth. I don't know why the two main characters liked each other much less loved each other. The lust is evident but not one conversation or insight into any other attraction. And the true identity of the tutor was too convenient - it would have been more interesting if he were who he said he was.

This is very short - about twenty pages and ends at 59% in the Kindle edition. I read this first in The Mammoth Book of Regency Romance and remember enjoying it. It seemed to be over too quickly on the Kindle because I didn't realize it was ending. There is a little twist at the end which is fun. This story may be a good choice if you're looking for a fast diversion, or a quick read before bedtime.

This is a romance written like a romance was meant to be written. The only disappointment I had was that it ended too soon.
