The author tells the story of a town, its history and of the catastrophes that brought sadness and ultimately destroyed the town. The author made the stories told by my wife's grandmother very real to us. The essay and photos took us there and allowed us to somehow experience the early years of my wife's grandmother's life in Picher.
The book truly captures the hard life and times in Picher. The book is exceptional and it is treasured by our family.
