So its a idea but....

I have done this before with nothing more than a sheet of plastic. I had a 1/2 ton Toyota hi lux( Tacoma) back in 1985. I filled it 1/2 way and splashed around for about a hour. dried the plastic and used it elsewhere next time. I had Zero effects from the weight of water. I agree with some of the reviews here as a area of concern. and would not advise children to use this un supervised, and any liability should be the users, but rather more a couple of adults looking to cool off. So no, there is no need to fill the bed up all the way and sure it has a purpose but one has to be self evident with its use. no I haven't purchased one nor will I.

A standard pickup bed has a volume of 2.5 cubic yards, that equates to 4,215 lbs. of water. Even 1/2 full it'd be well beyond the payload capacity of most pickups, unless you've got a heavy truck. Even then, don't try and drive around with 2 tons of KENETIC payload. That sloshing during a sharp turn or rapid stop is enough weight to take you right off the road.

It's a GREAT IDEA... on paper.
Given that these are no longer available pretty much says it all, not to mention there's other versions of it for 1/4 the price.

Just like carrying extra weight around the midsection is bad for human health, hauling too much weight in your car is bad for its suspension, braking and exhaust systems. Having too much weight in your car or a pickup truck can put unnecessary stress on some of its critical systems, leading to premature wear. Moreover, it is not even safe for the kids. It is disaster waiting to happen.

Get a real truck that can hold some water

I bought a real truck that can have weight in the bed unlike most of these girly commenters who for some reason came here to complain about their inadequacy. (I’m sure their wives know already) having a water tight liner is amazingly fun for those hot hillbilly nights! Highly recommend. Fill it with ice and kegs for a bonus hack. Also, one last time to the haters. Sell your El Camino and move in with your boyfriend already.
