Soon after Molly took the noisy bird into her home, she was given a dream vacation to Hawaii. Now, she had to find someone who would watch her cat and her newly adopted parrot, Pico.
After being turned down by everyone who lived within hearing range, Molly finally succeeded in getting some new neighbors to watch him (and her docile cat) for two weeks. Things did not go well at all, but children can be the key to happiness in many ways.
I will not tell the ending, but instead say that children who speak English will learn some Spanish, and those who speak Spanish will learn some English. I give the story a glorious 5 star rating and highly recommend this read to everyone, whether or not you have children reading along with you. It's a great way to comprehend Spanish, which is necessary in today's Global economy.
The story begins when Molly adopts her neighbor's parrot after Mrs. Santos must move to a nursing home. All day long, Pico, shrieks, but Molly doesn't understand him. When Molly is invited to go on vacation, she makes arrangements for Pico to be with a neighbor.
Emma and her friends discover Pico speaks Spanish and decide to surprise Molly by teaching him English. When Molly returns from her trip, she is happy to hear Pico speaking English.
The book teaches how difficult that might not understand a foreign language.
