First, I didn't like the insta-love. Once Flynn and Tessa actually meet, everything is so perfect it is nauseating. They are perfectly compatible in every way, and everything that has ever been unpleasant in a relationship before is exactly the opposite when they get together and, thus, perfect. This is pointed out way too often. And I get that this was a totally different feeling for both parties, but it became so cliched in the descriptions. Flynn's speech at the end and his description of their connection almost saves it for me, but that just couldn't mask how annoyed I was with all that perfection in the beginning.
Then, all of these Hart people get introduced in a weird turn of events where Flynn, who has found his soulmate in Tessa from the moment he meets her, doesn't speak to her for 6 days. Really? After all of convoluted Hart Family business and allusions to their upbringing and the horror they lived through which leads to the Flynn connections, I was thoroughly confused. It isn't until the end of this book that I find out the Harts are a part of another series this author wrote. So, this plug to her other work might have served to get the reader interested in her other series, but it just annoyed me.
Lastly, Flynn was a little too much of a crier for me. I like my males a little more Alpha, but he was hot in the bedroom. Which brings me to a little aside... The sex scenes were steamy and not just the same thing over and over, but they almost all referred to a lot of sweat and used the words "gushed" or "gushing" multiple times... Yuck.
There were some typos, but they weren't glaring. Overall, this story was just ok. I don't think I will read anymore from this author.
This book was on my TBR FOREVER! I purchased it back in November 2015 and recently got around to reading it (after I read book 4 first). I loved this book, I love rocker series and this did not disappoint. Ella Fox has a way of capturing your attention from page one and you can't help but fall in love with the characters.
Flynn Rand has spent the last decade of his life being the lead singer of the Renegade Saints, one of the hottest bands in the world. With this being their last tour before they start other projects, he decides it's time to start looking for the one. He wants what his parents had, what his grandparents have and what his pseudo-parents have. He wants to find that special someone, what he wasn't prepared for was for her to happen so quick and easy.
Tessa Hamilton has had a teenage crush on Flynn for years. When she was offered the job of becoming the official tour photographer for their farewell tour she couldn't say no. What she wasn't prepare for was the instant chemistry and the insane attraction she had for him that grew after meeting in person. Will Tessa give in and let Flynn in or will his rocker status be reason to push him away?
The story: kismet, fate, or whatever you want to call it definitely played a hand in this love story. From a very drunk performance where Flynn was mesmerized by a pair of chocolate brown eyes, a concert that was the turning point for his reckless behavior, drinking and drug use, to a girl who has never felt a spark with anyone except for when she thinks of Flynn Rand, lead singer of Renegade Saints. These two have been in each other's orbit for years but coincidence (or fate) delivers an opportunity for Flynn to meet the beautiful woman who will be photographing the band on tour. He has no recollection of the brown eyed girl from that night so many years ago, but is still drawn to Tessa without knowing why.
The familial connections got a bit confusing, but as I've read a couple of other books by this author it was pretty awesome to see those characters in the background getting on with their happy lives.
Well-paced and well-written with just enough angst to keep you flipping the pages but not enough to require medication, this was a fabulous read and I'm excited to jump into the next book, Twist of Fate.
Five kudos to Ms. Fox ***** ❤
