First, I didn't like the insta-love. Once Flynn and Tessa actually meet, everything is so perfect it is nauseating. They are perfectly compatible in every way, and everything that has ever been unpleasant in a relationship before is exactly the opposite when they get together and, thus, perfect. This is pointed out way too often. And I get that this was a totally different feeling for both parties, but it became so cliched in the descriptions. Flynn's speech at the end and his description of their connection almost saves it for me, but that just couldn't mask how annoyed I was with all that perfection in the beginning.
Then, all of these Hart people get introduced in a weird turn of events where Flynn, who has found his soulmate in Tessa from the moment he meets her, doesn't speak to her for 6 days. Really? After all of convoluted Hart Family business and allusions to their upbringing and the horror they lived through which leads to the Flynn connections, I was thoroughly confused. It isn't until the end of this book that I find out the Harts are a part of another series this author wrote. So, this plug to her other work might have served to get the reader interested in her other series, but it just annoyed me.
Lastly, Flynn was a little too much of a crier for me. I like my males a little more Alpha, but he was hot in the bedroom. Which brings me to a little aside... The sex scenes were steamy and not just the same thing over and over, but they almost all referred to a lot of sweat and used the words "gushed" or "gushing" multiple times... Yuck.
There were some typos, but they weren't glaring. Overall, this story was just ok. I don't think I will read anymore from this author.
I loved how he jumped right into and was ready to give it a go. He had no regrets, no doubts and knew that Tessa was the one he was going to do it with.
I didn't like how Tessa kept using his passed rock star life against him. He was wholehearted in love and truly infatuated and he gave her no reason to doubt him, but she still considered it as an obstacle and used it as an excuse to hold back. I'll admit, there was a point where I wanted to pull her hair and scratch her eyes out, in frustration. I hated how she hurt my sweet Flynn.
This was such a great story.
Standalone though part of a larger series
Told from both POVs
Minor editing errors. Nothing you can't look past since the storyline is so good.
While this is the first book in a new series it really is book 4 of the Hart series since this is a spin off of those books. It truly is my favorite so far. The spark between Flynn and Tessa was so intense I couldn't stop reading.
When I taste your lips, I taste a heaven I didn’t know existed. When I touch your skin, I feel things that I didn’t know were possible. When I breathe you in, I know I’m home, no matter where we are. And baby? When I see you, I see my future.
I mean come on. Who wouldn't eat that up??? They definitely have walls up that need to come down and when sh*t hits the fan and they start saying things just to hurt each other I found myself gasping but when they break those walls down the passion and true love that ensues is unreal.
PS. Grams might be my favorite person ever!!! So funny.
I can't wait for the next book in this series.
