Of course, I washed them after I removed them from the packaging, but I was surprised to find that there was a layer of grime on all of them. It was easily removed with dish soap, but make sure that you wash thoroughly.
I handwashed each one because the heat of the dishwasher can damage magnets. The base magnets are glued onto the bottom of each tin. Some of the magnets are not dead-center on the base, and some are not as strong as the others. Only one spice slides down the wall, but it is the heaviest spice that I have, so I made other arrangements for it.
The acrylic windows on the lids were slightly scratched from shipping/packaging, but probably not enough for a bystander to notice. The windows are sealed into the lid with what appears to be silicone.
Although the seal between the lid and base is not airtight, it seems to be adequate, as nothing leaks out of the containers while they hang on the side of my refrigerator.
On whole, I am very happy with this set. Now I have everything within arm's reach. I no longer have to dig through a drawer or reach to the back of a cabinet for spices that I use less frequently. They also look very nice attached to the side of my fridge. Great value.
-The rack that comes with them is not mountable (no screws or holes for screws). It has a reasonably small footprint.
- Each container was out of round. That means it is incredibly hard to get the lid on the container without bending one or the other with your hand.
- some of the lids show stress cracks (probably from forcing them onto the bottom of the container).
-The magnet is not very strong. It holds a container full of salt, but barely.
I recommend shelling out the extra money and getting a decent set. i will use these, until the lids break, and then will upgrade. I tried to reorganize by saving money, but these aren't worth the price difference. I do like the idea and design (twist the lid to reveal various shaker openings), though the out of round shape makes them hard to twist sometimes. I suspect they will last roughly 1 year. Great idea, bad execution
Also the edges are extremely sharp and the metal is very thin and overly pliable.
I'm so disappointed and considering returning!
Even without spices they slid down the metal, thankfully I have heavy duty magnets on hand and stuck one inside each container.
The lids are hard to get on without bending them to make them fit.
Next time I will spend the money for quality ones

The magnets are terrible and the metal pieces don't fit together well. The plastic shatters from heat so leaves streaks in the clear part where you can't tell what's inside.Published 12 months ago by Amazon Customer

These are good magnetic tins. The magnet on the back isn't super strong, but they somehow stay attached to my refrigerator, so they undoubtedly are sufficient. Read morePublished on January 21, 2014 by Rachel Gatti
The magnets still hold the containers after one year. The lids can be tight to open but that is not an issue. Can be kept near the stove as it looks pretty.Published on December 19, 2013 by Darshani K
I understand that these may not hold their best on my fridge, and may not be intended to be used on my fridge, but call me stubborn: that's where I want them! Read morePublished on October 30, 2013 by seasea
I tried to use this to stick to my refrigerator. The canisters don't close properly so the spices fall out constantly.Published on September 1, 2013 by K.k. B
