I have to admit, I was getting hella ticked off at Carson for not standing up to his mother about the whole tight schedule and expectations. “For a moment Tynan felt like he teetered on the edge of a bottomless pit where he’d plummet into Carson’s family, abandoning his own.” When they decide to spend Christmas separately with their own family it made me sad because that’s not the way to start. As Tynan makes more compromises and gives in to the cookie weekend, the tree weekend, the decorating weekend, I kept shaking my head at Carson – stand up for yourself! It’s not like Tynan dislikes Carson’s family or even the things they are doing. “He just wished there was a little space for his family. And for him and Carson to have their own time.”
Luckily, I underestimated them. I absolutely adored their Christmas tradition. They’ve got it, these boys. With all the push and pull that is the holiday, this one ended up being perfect.
Nearly every family will have had this happen at one time or another as we go through the traditions we have built up over the years. This story is a well written seasonal tale and deals with how one couple deal with both their families without being torn apart in the process.
Carson doesn't seem understanding that Tynan also has a family who may want to spend the holidays with them. If Carson's other family members could come over later on Christmas Day why couldn't they? Why was there so much stress put on Tynan? How come Carson didn't see how selfish he was to ask Tynan not only to do all his family traditions and spend Christmas with his family, when they spend all of Thanksgiving at Carson's families house. Tynan is very patient and I could tell he cared a lot about Carson. Unfortunately, I didn't always feel it from Carson.
Even with these questions and not always liking Carson, I did enjoy this short read.

I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
Things got pretty fraught for poor Tynan, he felt he was neglecting his own family for that of Carson's, his boyfriend. Fortunately, things were worked out, without totally insulting Carson's anal and manipulative mother. Been there, done that, too. Phew 😌
This was a well written story, with likeable MCs, trying to do the best for all. It totally resonated with me. As with many of these stories from this collection, I found it a little short, and would've liked some background on our heroes.
We have two likeable MCs who try to figure out how to balance their family duties on Christmas. Both families have traditions of their own and want their child with them.
I could really relate to this since I had similar problems at the beginning of my new relationship. It's never easy to figure that one out for your first Christmas together.
To know how these two could resolve the problem, you have to read the story for yourself ;)
I have to say I would have liked a bit more backstory to Carson and Tynan and wished the whole story was a bit longer. But I can never get enough if I enjoy a book ;)
