"This is a story as complicated as life, as beautiful as love, and as real as the faith that guides the characters. I'm still amazed by it long after I've turned the last page; the character insights are profound, the action is gripping, and the understanding of matters of the heart and soul are so full that I feel like I learned something, not only about history, but about humanity. I highly recommend Pieces of Silver to absolutely anyone; you'll not leave it disappointed." Liesel's boyfriend is Josef von Woerner. Josef never tells Liesel where he is going. He is supposedly a salesman for his father's (Otto) glass and coking company but as the story develops Liesel finds out that Josef is doing way more than that.
David de Serre, a dedicated single Christian, is an agent for the Bureau of Investigation in Washington D.C. He likes to work slow and methodically ensuring that he has plenty of evidence on a person before arresting them. Why is he watching Liesel? What does he suspect? What have his investigations turned up about Josef? When David finds himself attracted to Liesel, will this compromise the case?
This is an EXCELLENT, Christian based book! Well written, keeping you engaged from the beginning. You will find romance (clean), heartache, suspense, danger, crisis and great family times all in this book. Although it is the first of two books, this book does have an ending whilst making it clear that it is open for the next one to continue. I'm off to read "Remember Me" next!
As is typical with Kregel Publications and their Kindle book versions, there is NO linked index so not easy to search for a particular chapter.
This is a people story. Normally I don't care for people stories because they involve too much "cogitating" and not enough action and dialogue. That isn't the case with this story. This story is about making choices and then realizing that the consequences of those choices may be greater than you ever imagined, but the rewards will be too. I can't tell you the choices that Liesel and Josef made without giving the story away, but I couldn't put the book down until I found out how it was all going to turn out.
