Dallas Muller has everything he never expected he’d have. He owns a successful motorbike mechanic shop in Newcastle, and he’s madly in love with his boyfriend of four years, Justin Keith.
Justin has always struggled to find where he fit in, never realising his true worth or what it means to be loved—until he met Dallas. Living and working together might be too much for some, but Dallas and Justin wouldn’t have it any other way.
When a terrible accident tears their world apart, Justin’s left with no memory of Dallas or their relationship. Trying to put the pieces back together is almost impossible when some pieces are blank and some are missing altogether. Dallas has to let Justin find his own way back to him and just hope that their love will light the way.

About the author

N.R. Walker is an Australian author, who loves her genre of gay romance. She loves writing and spends far too much time doing it, but wouldn't have it any other way. She is many things; a mother, a wife, a sister, a writer. She has pretty, pretty boys who live in her head, who don't let her sleep at night unless she gives them life with words.
She likes it when they do dirty, dirty things... but likes it even more when they fall in love.
She used to think having people in her head talking to her was weird, until one day she happened across other writers who told her it was normal. She's been writing ever since.

N.R. Walker was voted 2019 Goodreads M/M Romance Members' Choice Awards All-Time Favorite Author

Justin and Dallas have been together for about 4 years, they are building a life together, until one day when Justin is involved a freak accident that wipes away his memories for the last 5 years, including Dallas. Dallas, being the amazing man that he is, stands by Justin, vowing to help him through his recovery and hopefully rebuild their relationship.
There was just something so very special about this book. Despite the circumstances and everything these two go through, this story really is full of hope and love! There were so many touching moments, Dallas and Justin really do seem just meant to be! I couldn't put this book down and I am so looking forward to more of their story, I definitely need more of these two!
“Pieces of You” is not your typical romance. The biggest departure is that the standard Big Dramatic Event takes place right at the very start of the book. Justin’s accident happens in the second chapter. After that, it’s all about how the two deal with the aftermath. It’s quite a different approach, and results in quite a page-turner as you want to find out what Justin remembers.
Luckily, I have no direct knowledge of traumatic brain injuries, but I found the description of what Justin was going through quite compelling. That’s a big part of what made me want to keep reading the story, to find out how he progresses day by day. Justin seems like a very likable fellow, which also makes us want to see him get well.
Almost all of the book is related from Dallas’ point of view, as he shows up at the hospital day after day to check on Justin’s condition. You have to admire the guy for showing up every day even after it’s clear that his boyfriend of five years has no memory of him. It makes him almost too good to be true, but he’s clearly very strong-willed, to have built up his own business - which it should be noted he’s very lucky to have employees who can take car of the shop while he spends every day at the hospital for several weeks. I suppose it should be said that despite the severity of Justin’s injuries, his recovery probably represents a best-case scenario.
The only other significant characters are the other two mechanics that work for Dallas, Davo and Sparra. They’re more than just background extras, although we don’t get to know them all that well. All four men come off as stereotypical footie-obsessed Aussie gear-heads, but that’s not really a negative. It’s a type you’re probably familiar with, so it makes it that much easier to form a picture of them in your mind.
I love, love, love how devoted Dallas is to Justin and his recovery, and how Justin instinctively knows that he can trust Dallas. Nr weaves in lots of little details throughout the story that made Justin’s slow recovery and the romantic tension feel authentic. These guys are so sweet together even when things are platonic. I also loved the side characters, especially Justin’s medical team, Davo and Sparrow. There is a lot of love and kindness and support in this story and it’s absolutely heartwarming. This book ends shortly after Justin is discharged from the hospital and is working through recovery at home, so make sure to jump right into the next book!
I read this series when it first released, and now in May of 2022 I have read/listened to it at least 5 more times and can’t get enough of it. I adore this series. I highly recommend checking out the audiobook. The narrator does a great job and totally pulled me into the emotional journey of this book.
There is absolutely no angst in this book, there is grief and a range of emotions that both goes through from Justin's accident to his recovery.
If it's something it doesn't lack it's sweetness, they are sweet from start to finish.
Honestly I felt like it would have been more real with a bit more conflict as Justin struggles to accept his new situation and this man he doesn't know.
But the story kept me going, because it kept me curious to see how it was handled and what Justin's recovery would be like, and how Dallas would handle it.
There is a good deal of repetition throughout the book, not related to the amnesia and I felt like the author should trust the reader to remember how Justin's medicine made him feel or why he needed to sleep so much.
Dallas's presence, his steadfastness and his whole demeanor was far reaching and it was apparent why Justin, after the accident that deleted their 5 years together, trusted him, wanted him and needed him close to start healing.
Comfort read at its best and I can't wait for the next installment (although I'm kinda fearing that Nicole will crank up the hurt, LOL).

As with Leta Blake's The River Leith, you can only feel desperately sad for both protagonists, but the ending of this particular story left me with so much hope for what is to come...for both Justin and Dallas.

This author is a marvel and knows what makes gay people tick..
She writes beautifully.
