For those who have been living in a closet and therefore might not know, Cynthia Pepper--among her many roles--was a semi-regular on TV's phenomenal comedy classic, "My Three Sons," as Mike's girl friend. She left the show to star in her own classic, "Margie"--a situation comedy about the life of a teenage girl during the Roaring Twenties. Her personal favorite role was as Midge in Elvis Presley's hit, "Kissin' Cousins" (1964). Naturally, Cynthia's favorite scene was where she gets to kiss Elvis and also judo-toss him onto the ground!
Cynthia's book is well-written, has many interesting facts yet also sometimes brings an intended smile to the reader's face. But you won't find that it's a "cutthroat" memoir. I quote from her introduction: "Most celebrity memoirs are expected to be a `tell all' book. I grew up in a different era with a few different values so I've written a `tell some' book. The stories are no less interesting but why hurt someone if you don't have to." I respect Cynthia for that.
Having written several books I know how much work goes into such a work. Cynthia occasionally wrote me about her progress so I know it took her quite a while to finish. Because of her dedication the work is highly professional and enjoyable reading. I recommend it to any reader who is a Hollywood devotee and wants to hear it first hand from an author who is a beautiful lady in every way and an accomplished actress who's been there and done it, through every difficult yet rewarding situation.
It is chock full of Hollywood stories - I am re-reading it for the second time because there is so much to remember!
The wonderful part for Elvis fans is the many times Elvis is connected to her life and career.. Her personal moments working with
Elvis are really fun too and the many co-stars she worked with throughout her career.
Anyone who loves hearing about Hollywood through the eyes of a star will enjoy this book. The stories of old Hollywood regarding her father Jack Pepper's career and the Hollywood Cynthia worked in later.
You will find it interesting and a lot of fun too! I promise you will enjoy it!
