This one on the Pilgrims is a great one and history rich, but just enough so that it is entertaining and fun for the kids to hear. We got this when my daughter was almost 7 and we have loved it. The illustrations are fabulous and seem to take you back to a simpler place in time. This is one you NEED on your bookshelf.

She was very interested so I did some research on books and came upon this one. I read the book and thought it was excellent for a child and when she read it, she loved it. She has actually read it several times, it's a keeper. She can pull this book out every year and be reminded of what Thanksgiving is all about.

My 9th great grandfather was on the Mayflower, and the info in the book is pretty good on historical accuracy without all the political retelling that sometimes is associated with this story but isn't really how the people thought about it when it happened. Maybe it was the declarative sentences that made it seem matter of fact instead of grandiose...
