The game does, however, though, provide a challenge. Towards the end levels, even as an adult, I had some issues attempting to find some of the hidden items. Again, though, as you can't fail, if a child can't find the item, it won't frustrate them, but as those hidden items usually require critical thinking or putting multiple steps together, it can help with problem solving skills.
As a final note, in case you have multiple children, there can only be one save slot on the Pillow Pets DS game. However, if your child has friends that like to play games, there is a "Guest" mode where a guest can play the game. When the DS is shut off, the guest's progress will not save, so that allows a guest to try out the game without overwriting the original owner's game data.
At the price, the game is definitely worth it. If you or your child love Pillow Pets toys, then the game really does a good job of making a cute and involving game that allows your children to explore in a non-violent atmosphere.
Once you find the Pillow Pet you can name it or keep the assigned name. Then by finding additional items in each level you earn accessories to dress up your Pillow Pet. Right now I have one with a blue Mohawk and glasses!
I will say too that I admit I thought this game would be totally cheesy and dumb, but my boys love it and I love that it is a game they can play. There is no crying because they died and they are figuring out how to maneuver in the game pretty quickly. The screen also shows you which button or arrow to push to do different things (like jump or fly.) Overall, the game is very cute and a great game for young boys and girls.
First off, she loves pillow pets. She has a large ladybug--like on the game cover. This of course is exciting in itself.
Took a little bit of teaching on the game controls-- L + R, and press "B" to jump, etc. But she caught on quickly. She does still help here and there, so it definitely would work better for maybe 4-6 year old children (but no older than 6). But all in all she finds it entertaining.
Good introduction to platform type gaming, as the game is VERY simple. Along with VERY simple graphics (once again, no older than 6). It basically entails collecting stars and other items, opening doors with keys...And as others have said, I do like that it does not have any enemies. Not as awesome as some other young child games (like the Smart Girl's Playhouse series for example) but she likes it.
