I am so in love with this pen. The color is beautiful (I'm probably going to get the orange as well at some point) and ink flows exactly as I like it. The line width is finer than .05 rollerball pens I've used. It comes with a converter and one ink cartridge (pictured) and a helpful instruction pamphlet that explains using the cartridges and the converter. I've been playing with it for about an hour and a half and no issues so far. Again, I'm sure I will buy another.

Oh, I simply adore this little gem of a pen. Write's wonderfully, feels divine in one's hand, comes with a charger, and then...there's the design. I imagine Audrey Hepburn's Holly Golightly would have carried this pen in "Breakfast at Tiffany's." Speaking of Tiffany's, the color of the pen is genuinely that Tiffany's Blue! That alone would make it lovely, but the addition of a small band of polka dots adds a touch of playfulness to this elegant writing piece, which makes me smile every time I see it. I love when you encounter the perfect marriage of form and function; add an incredible price to the mix, and you've got perfection. Pilot's achieved all of that with the MR Retro Pop Collection Fountain pen.

Specifics: It comes with a cartridge and refillable charger, and an extra-fine nib, packaged in a lovely fitted gift box. All of that...for $16. Are you still reading, or have you clicked to purchase? If you're a fan of fountain pens, you'd be mad not to. It's everything I can do to not go ahead and order the orange or (and!) gray, as well.

UPDATE: I've just received a second one - the orange - as a gift, and it is just as lovely as the first! Again, I cannot recommend these highly enough.

Very nice fountain pen, especially for the price. This pen writes like a much more expensive fountain pen and can be used with both cartridges and ink, via the enclosed converter. For those of us who prefer writing with fountain pens it is hard to find one that is not super expensive but writes really well. This one fits that bill quite well. Good heft to it without being overly heavy. It has a nice feel in the hand and a smooth writing nib (I prefer a fine point). I have purchased several of these over the last couple of years and all of them are holding up perfectly. If you order the red one - know that it is actually much more of an orange color - I wish it had been more of a true red. The pilot cartridges that they sell for this pen also work very well and I have never had any leakage problems with any of these pens.

I absolutely adore this pen.
My first fountain pen was a Lamy Safari, which was okay, but kinda scratchy.
This pen writes smooth as butter and applies ink to the page nice and wet. I wish I had bought this one first!
As a lefty, this pen works amazingly.

It comes with 1 black ink cartridge and a squeeze converter.
The converter isn't the greatest, but it does the job, and it was free!

I'm using Noodler's Antietam, and it writes like a dream!

The med point nib writes at about .7mm in my experience, though it varies by paper texture and quality.

I've only had this pen for a few days, but I'm already in love with it! This is the first fountain pen I've ever owned, but it's easy to use, writes well, and looks excellent. My ONLY complaint is that the instructions provided were NOT clear. My pen came with the converter (the thing you use to use this pen with an ink bottle) already inserted, and the sealed ink cartridge separate in the case. None of the parts were labelled clearly, and the pictures in the instructions weren't clear either, so inserting the cartridge involved a bit of guess-work on my part. So, here are my instructions for you:

-The converter (see pictures) comes already inside the pen. You will need to remove this to insert the cartridge
-To remove it, unscrew the body of the pen from the nib (the metal part unscrews from the black part -- see picture)
-Gently pull on the converter (there's no ink in it, or at least there shouldn't be since you haven't used it, so don't worry about messes). It should come out without needing you to twist or turn it, just pull.
-To insert the ink cartridge: HOLD THE NIB SO IT IS POINTING UPWARDS (this will prevent messes from the ink). The ink cartridge has 2 ends: a tapered one and one that's got a little hollow section. Insert the cartridge with the hollow section first, and push it into place (DO NOT TURN OR TWIST IT AS YOU INSERT IT, JUST PUSH IT GENTLY). The instructions say you "may feel or hear a slight click when the cartridge is fully inserted," but I did not feel this click -- if you don't feel a click, you may carefully remove the ink cartridge and check if there is ink in the hollow end. If there is ink in the hollow end, it was inserted correctly, and you need to carefully push it back into place (again NIB UP!).

I wrote this review for Goldspot Pens, where I purchased this wonderful gem. Here is what I said: "This fountain pen by Pilot is an *amazing* value. As a fountain pen collector for many years, I have owned very high-end pens that do not write as well or flow as freely as this one does. It's very comfortable to hold, and has a substantive feel because of the brass barrel. The finish is lovely--uniformly vivid red color, and a nice contrasting pattern on the ring that encircles the barrel. The nib is quite elegantly finished for an inexpensive pen, reflecting the classy lines and structure of the more expensive Namiki fountain pens that Pilot also produces. The fine workmanship I've always expected of Namiki pens is also seen in the high quality of this pen by Pilot. I give it my highest recommendation as a workhorse, everyday pen, or a starter for a new fountain pen user. The new user who writes with one of these will be a fan of fountain pens for life!"
