I like these pens generally. Getting used to how they work takes a bit of practice. Different angles change how they write. I think for most calligraphy uses, the 2.4 is perfect. The 1.5 is a little thin and the normal thicker down stroke is not very thick. The 3.8 sometimes turns into a black blob if you aren't careful, though it may work well for larger writing. That said, if you write really large or need to do something like a poster, the 6.0 will be perfect.
The biggest con on these pens is the cap. It screws on, which is good. However, once you remove it, there is no place to put it. The design of the barrel, though comfortable to write with, doesn't allow you to put the cap on the end. So it just hangs around loose. There is no clip on the cap to clip it anywhere and I can see me losing it at some point.

I have never written with such fluidity and ease in a calligraphy pen in such a long time. Good pens are rare to come by, and even if this a kind of paintbrushy style pen... it definitely works.
It comes with a very detailed instruction manual with exercises, and full alphabetical lettering for three different fonts.
It is a pretty sturdy and well thought out design.
I like the two methods of writing style, which allows a degree of control on whether you plan to write in standard font or as calligraphy, simply by rotating it 90 degrees.
The lid is a screwcap which is cool BUT does not sit on top of the pen... which can be a bit annoying in case it is misplaced.
Ink flows very very easily - this is great BUT some element of control would be good because it soaks through normal A4 paper very quickly, meaning that if you are new to the game... either you had better get thick paper or you can't really go that slow. If you go slow it drinks a lot of ink and the paper soaks quickly. It also means, since I am a teacher, that marking in calligraphy is not as pleasant because it flows through the students' page to the other side. I usually do mark in calligraphy by the way - and they love it!
It also kind of doesn't give the same calligraphic effect exactly like writing with a fountain pen because of the easy flow - the difference between the pronounced *thick* strokes and the "fine" strokes are not as sharp as using a fountain calligraphy pen (At least when using 1.5mm).
Also, this CANNOT use standard ink cartridges. Only purpose designed pilot ones.
Still it is an amazing concept, and I though I probably don't need the largest two, I certainly don't regret buying the smaller two.
Easy to use. ink runs smoothly, but you need quality paper as well to write onto, otherwise with some low quality paper the ink tend to spread...
I would have given 5 stars however I did not receive the box of 12 catridges as stated. Just the red and blue which comes with each pen. I sent an email to the seller in regards to this.
I'll update later on.
The cartridges are easy to use but I wanted more variety so I now wash out the empty cartridge with water and refill them with a syringe from whatever colour of bottled ink I need at the time. I’ve only used Diamine inks so far as they have an interesting range of ink colours and work well with these pens. Ie no blockages or leaking.
I did receive an e-mail stating my parcel had been left with a neighbour 3 doors away...?..however I found the parcel had been posted through our letter box...?
Pity that Pilot only do these sizes. Would like one or two more in between.
