When "Glory Daze," an original production by TBS, hit the airwaves in 2010--I didn't hear a lot of positive feedback from mainstream critics. Alternately, the charges against "Glory Daze" seemed to be that it was riddled with college campus cliches and that it was a thinly veiled rip off of "Animal House." Is "Glory Daze" loaded with familiar cliches that you've seen in countless other comedies? Sure. Does it resemble, in structure and themes, "Animal House?" Sure. But, I'm going to say "So what?" In a TV landscape populated by endless procedural shows that rip off one another, "Glory Daze" actually seems like a breath of fresh air. With no agenda, other than to be entertaining, "Glory Daze" doesn't aspire to be anything other than what it is. Momentary fun--the show ranges from comic genius to mere silliness within the various episodes--and, quite frankly, this unapologetic stab at lightweight humor won me over.

Set in 1986, "Glory Daze" introduces the four primary cast members as freshman entering an Indiana college. The characters embody typical stereotypes from the young Republican to the star athlete to the scrappy wiseacre to the lovable "everyman." Thrown together by circumstance (this quartet instantly bond), a series of blunders has them rushing the college's infamous party fraternity. Of course, they love it! And the remainder of the episodes chronicle their comic misadventures as pledges. The show can be entirely winning, however, based on the talented cast. Kelly Blatz, Matt Bush, Andrew Seeley, and Hartley Sawyer are our quartet. Bush gets saddled with most of the outrageousness, but he's an adept comic actor.

I bought this episode because I had a $5.00 credit in the Amazon on demand store due to buy another product. I am happy to say I obtained some joy from watching this TV show and it was well worth the free price for me! This show is extremely funny and with this episode being great, but not exceptional like some of the other episodes. Only reason I didn't give more stars is because of Amazon on demand not being reduced or something for prime users.

I bought this episode because I had a $5.00 credit in the Amazon on demand store due to buy another product. I am happy to say I obtained more joy from watching this TV show then I did from the actual product I bought. This show is extremely funny and this episode is by far my favorite of the season. Only reason I didn't give five stars is because of Amazon on demand not being reduced or something for prime users.
