“A frenetic pace, a twisty plot, and a cast of loud, zany characters … Readers may fall a little bit in love.” --Booklist

The writing in this book is so clunky it's hard to read. The characters are always "screaming" and "shouting". And the plot is completely implausible. I wanted to know how it ended, but I couldn't wait for the book to end at the same time. And I have to say that Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream does NOT contain raw eggs. So that "fact" as a clue to fix the heroine's problem is completely wrong. Where were the editors and fact checkers??

Kept me reading at a fast pace. Funny and engrossing. Of course, if you read the blurb, you know this is just a bit paranormal-but not in a monstery or vampire way, or even in a ghost way. It's just... well, read it and find out what happens when Lily says, "Pinch me!"

I really like all of the books by Adena Halpern, so it was no surprise that I liked this one too. It'sa somewhat predictable ending, but very funny along the way. It is a perfect summer beach read. I recommend it for when you want to be entertained!

"Smart and sassy Lily Burns is too intelligent to believe in something as medieval as a family curse no matter what the women in her family tell her. But when she falls in love with a smart, successful handsome pediatrician who adores the ground she walks on, marries him, and suddenly wakes up to an entirely different life, she may have to admit the worst thing of all--her mother just might have been right. With her new husband suddenly unhappily married to another woman, Lily finds she has no choice but to do everything in her power to break the curse.

Pinch Me is a fun, quirky read which accomplishes just what it sets out to do: it allows the reader to suspended their beliefs for a few hours and be charmed by the antics of an entire family of goofy women. While billed as Chick Lit, Adena Halpern's latest installment is so much more; its a testament to the power of love and an authors ability to simply make the reader smile as they turn that last page. This book is the perfect antidote to a really bad day.

I wanted to give this book 4.5 stars but will go with 5 over 4. I just love Adena Halpern's writing style and this book, like "29" and "The Ten Best Days of My Life" had me laughing and crying all at once, although I think it was my least favorite of the three. But since I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the other two and LOVED, LOVED this one, it's all good. Some of the characters felt similar to those in her other books, like Selma and Dolly seemed similar to the mom and grandma in 29 but it didn't make the story less enjoyable for me. The plot was far-fetched like the others, but, also like the others, had me believing while reading. I can't wait for the next one!

I love "Target Underwear and a Vera Wang Gown" as well as "The Ten Best Days of your Life" so I thought I'd give this a shot. I find it hard to believe this is the same writer. The author must have gotten a book deal and needed to produce a finished copy in a short period of time. She then skipped the editor all together! The premise of this was weak but I thought she'd pull it together with her fabulous humor and dialog. I was sadly mistaken. Instead we get silly, shallow characters, a predictable, simplistic plot and a finale where the heroines nemesis is debunked because she wanted chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. So much of this book is wasted on the lead character whining about "the curse" I wanted to curse her and her ridiculous family when it was done. At the end of this book I was annoyed with ALL of the characters and left wondering how the author even found 200 pages of content for this storyline. If you are looking for a good book try Ms Halpern's other aforementioned works but definitely skip "Pinch Me".

I read only seven pages of this book and couldn't stand hearing the name Gogo, one more time! Why choose this name - it is so unappealing and turned me off from the get go. Lily annoyed me already with her "I'm hungry" response to his proposal. He should have left her in Paris! I was given this book by a co-worker, and planned on reading it to fill in the slow times at my place of business - this was terrible.

What a cute book! Lily grew up with a mother and grandmother who thought that a family curse ruined each of their relationships with men. After they went through their fair share of men, they decided that raising Lily to avoid relationships would be best for her. I think that since they raised her that way, she wanted even more to find the man of her dreams.

Lily finds the man that she wants to marry in Gogo (I know why would you name a character Gogo?). Even after all the warning from her family she runs off and elopes. I thought it was endearing to still believe in love even though she didn't have an example to live up to. The curse really does exist, which gives this very chick lit read a little twist.

With an ease to its reading, this book was a quick read that would be perfect for a week at the beach. I thought it was a great take on a chick lit classic storyline. It made the story feel fresh and new. I would recommend this book to all the fans of the chick lit genre.
