Judy Tanner-Basiewicz grew up in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, and lives with her husband Mike in the picturesque mountains of North Carolina. She is the mother of three sons and a stepson and grandmother of nine. She has a B.S. in communications from the University of Illinois and has worked as a newspaper and magazine editor, feature writer and photographer in Illinois and North Carolina. For 21 years she was an administrative assistant and newsletter editor for CarePartners Health Services in Asheville. Now retired, Judy finds joy as a church musician, a polymer clay artist (Artsy Clay) and a tutor at Immaculata Catholic School.
