Pinzon Hemstitch Sheet Set
Soft and Lightweight 400-Thread-Count
Thread count refers to the number of threads that make up one square inch of fabric. Typically, the finer the threads that can be woven together, the softer the fabric.
Offering smooth strength, this mid-range thread count will feel softer than a 200 thread count. This higher range of thread count offers a lighter weight and a noticeably more flexible drape for an overall attractive display. It makes a great choice for anyone looking to tip the scale on supple strength while staying within a desired price point.
Luxurious Egyptian Cotton
Considered best in class when it comes to high-quality cotton, Egyptian cotton offers a sought-after combination of superior strength, luxurious softness, and beautiful sheen.
Egyptian cotton grows in the warm climate of Egypt and features extra-long durable fibers that give towels and rugs a beautiful texture and long-lasting strength. Items made with Egyptian cotton are typically found in high-end resorts and spas and may come with a higher price tag, but can last for years with appropriate care.
Sateen Finish for All-Season Comfort
Sateen fabric has a soft, satin-like finish resulting from a four-over-one thread weave. Standard weaves, like percale, use a one-over, one-under stitch.
The four-over weave puts more threads nearer the surface, resulting in a soft and warm surface that is ideal for year-round comfort.

Next these sheets are smooth, so I am assuming a sateen weave. However, with a 400 thread count they are not soft smooth, just smooth. If you are looking for soft smooth sateen, that is not what you will get. Soft smooth sateen is thinner material and will kind of hug you and keep you warm - great for winter when you want warmth, not so good for summer when it's hot. Like now.
Back to smooth. Although they are not soft smooth, they are smooth and I don't feel rough weave. I feel like they are crisp and cool to sleep on. As they are washed they will get a little softer, but assuming they are like my other set of Pinzon sheets with the same description, they won't pill, they will stay crisp and smooth, but not soft smooth.
These Pinzon type sheets are my favorites. After five days on my bed, they still feel clean and crisp. To me, soft smooth sateen sheets, although wonderful and I love them, too --- after five days I feel like they are ready for a visit to the washing machine.
I would give these sheets five stars, but I don't like the colors. My other sheets are pink blush and I can't find them any more. This color, tan or whatever it is called, is just as pictured on MY monitor. It is a warm tan, not a grayed out color. I do like this color and feel good looking at it and sleeping on the sheets. If color were not an issue then I would give these sheets five stars. And the price. Oh my gosh, the price is right. Great value. I will revisit this review in a couple of months to update it if anything changes. Some of my opinion is based on how my pink sheets have worn, but the FEEL of the sheets is based on these.
First, let me start out that I have a 15.5 inch deep King Size Mattress. I've had a devil of a time finding sheets that would fit a mattress this deep.
THAT being said, these did! I purchased the White Pinzon 400 TC sheets and was quite happy when the actually fit without error.
Next, I was hesitant on the quality/durability because these were only 400TC. You see, years ago, I had purchased PREMIUM quality 1200TC sheets from an online store that "overstock"ed their items. These were most certainly the cats meow. Sure they were a tad stiff at first, but they lasted about 10 years before my dog decided to dig a hole in to the sheets.
Now, because I had a coupon code that gave me 15% off to try something from the Pinzon store, I decided to try these (bought 2 @52 each so If you see them cheaper, BUY THEM).
I wash my bedding once a week. I sometimes sweat while I sleep so I was kind of scared that the whites would REALLY look icky after a day or two so I purchased the White because I wanted the option to bleach them. I use Tide laundry detergent because in my experience (@47 years old) is that Tide actually CLEANS best and Clorox bleach doesn't "yellow" the whites like the less expensive stuff.
So far, I've washed these twice each and they have gotten softer and have remained white with no discolor. Of course I can tell a difference between these and 1200TC, but in all honesty these feel more luxurious than the other upmf-teen sheets I've tried over the last couple of years. I purchased quite a few on Amazon that said they were 100% Egyptian Cotton 600-1200C and they were ALL junk. Either they were pilling up (Egyptian Cotton WILL NOT pill) or the measurements weren't correct in the AD leaving me with sheets that bowed up on the sides.
Overall, these are top notch sheets for my king size mattress that is 15.5 inches deep. It covers the entire mattress, and is as soft as one would expect for 400TC sheets. As a side note, I am a father of 7 and NOT a multi-millionaire so EVERY dollar counts.
So far I feel that these were an exceptional value @ $50 for the white king size, but the price has now dropped (most likely temporarily) to $33 without a coupon, So after writing this review, I'm going to purchase 2 more! I only wish they made these in twin size so my kids could have them as well.
These sheets are still NOT SOFT after being washed several times. I purchased based on all the wonderful reviews. They do appear to be good quality, the color is very pretty and they come neatly packed in a nice box. Upon arrival, I ordered 2 more sets for Christmas gifts. However, I should have waited to try mine out before ordering more!
After washing & drying per directions, I could hardly believe how rough they were, especially compared to the sheets I currently own. I have now washed (with fabric softner) 6 more times and they don't seem to be softening up. One reviewer did mention they used vinegar & fabric softner because the sheets seemed like they were "starched." I have not used vinegar and may try that . If it does the trick I will re-post here. Otherwise they are very nice sheets as far as fit and they seem to be good quality. If they were soft like my other sheets I would give them 5 stars!
I am at the point that I am thinking of asking for a refund.
