3.0 out of 5 starsWonderful flannel, but there are stitching problems in the chamois color and chamois is more mustard than tan
ByGreenWeaveron November 30, 2013
These sheets are wonderful, but I've deducted one star because they are NOT chamois, but more of a mustard color - very dark yellow. This is true regardless of the light, though fluorescent light mitigates the effect somewhat, while incandescent light makes them look even more yellow. The color is okay, but definitely not the tan shown in the picture, which is the color I wanted.
Aside from the color, the flannel truly feels like a very short-napped velvet, and is incredibly soft and warm for sleeping. I've had a lot of flannel sheets over the years, and these are the best I've ever had. Yes, they cost more than the 160 gram flannel, and they're well worth the extra cost, which is something I rarely say, LOL. I also have a set in the dark brown Italian Roast color (that color is true to the picture and got a 5-star review from me), and they're so great that I got this set too.
The size is perfect for our king-size bed with a 10" mattress on a platform. The fitted bottom sheet has elastic all the way around, and could fit a much thicker mattress than ours - there's at least an extra 6" on both sides. Both sheets and pillowcases in the Italian Roast have excellent stitching (read below about the stitching in the Chamois set), and wash and dry beautifully.

Update: While the stitching on the Italian Roast set is still perfect after several months of weekly washings, the stitching on the chamois bottom sheet began to unravel on one corner after just a few washings. I told Amazon about it, and they sent me a replacement set. However, after one wash, before the sheets were even used, exactly the same thing happened on the replacement set. I again called Amazon, returned the sheets and was promised a replacement set in Italian Roast in a week. It's been 4 weeks now, and still no replacement. I begin to wonder if I'll receive them before the cold weather is over... grrrrr.
Because of the original stitching problem, the replacement stitching problem, and the three weeks past the promised replacement date (and still no idea when they might arrive), I'm reducing my rating from 4 stars to 3.
