Pinzon Microplush Mattress Pad
50 Ounces of Softness
For extra warmth and super plush coziness, choose a fill level of 50 ounces or more. This amount of fill works well for chilly fall and winter months, creating extra insulation for quick warmth soon after crawling under the covers. It adds a little more weight, but still feels comfortable. Depending on the fill type, a fill level of 50+ might be considered higher quality and come with a higher price tag.
Microplush Fabric Top
The mattress pad's exterior microplush fabric consists of a 100-percent polyester top, a 100-percent olefin bottom, and 90-percent polyester/10-percent spandex sides.
The overall effect: a soft, durable pad that stays securely in place on the mattress. Here's to a better night's sleep.
End-to-End Box Stitched
Thoughtfully constructed, the overfilled microplush mattress pad's end-to-end box stitch design and mitered border keep the fill evenly distributed throughout, so there's no shifting of the fill or flat spots to worry about. Thanks to its deep pockets and fully elasticized edge, the mattress pad can also function as a mattress topper and a mattress protector for all-in-one convenience. It will even fit deep mattresses like pillow-tops.
For best results, the microplush mattress pad should be professionally washed/cleaned or dry cleaned only.

8/22/2016 update - we've had this mattress pad two months now. I love the soft feel so much I've been using it as a sheet! It's in the 90's here and this mattress pad does not make my husband and I hot as most mattress pads do and it's very quiet with no crinkling sounds. At first I washed in cold water and hung it to dry but lately, It's been thrown in regular wash and dry a few times with no issues. - still very pleased with this purchase!
We bought it to protect our new king sized mattress. Very nice feel to this cover (so soft) that you may not want to put a sheet over it!
I read a few concerns about cleaning and there is a tag with washing instructions. I use cold water and hang to dry but it feels sturdy enough to handle the dryer easily as well.
My husband was concerned it would feel hot but this has not been the case at all. Very cozy and cool.
This is a really nice, fluffy, and incredibly soft mattress pad. As soon as I felt the top material I could tell it was good quality. I half wanted to sleep directly on top of it but knew we should put a sheet over it for protection. My husband says it feels like a cloud. For those of you worried that your mattress won't fit, please check out the picture I attached with the tape measure. For reference, our mattress + topper concoction is about 14 inches and I don't doubt that this pad could have handled another 10 inches easily. We stretched one side out to 25+ inches and that was with little effort.
My only issue (this doesn't bother my husband at All, mind you) is that the elastic isn't "tight" enough to hold its place and keep the pad taut under the sheets. I'm not positive if this was intentional (to allow easier stretching for thicker mattresses) or not. It bothered me because it wouldn't stay tightly in place while sleeping which made it bunch in places along the seams of the square pockets. I could feel this underneath me while sleeping (a less dramatic "Princess And The Pea" type situation). But I know that sheet clips will completely solve that problem and hold everything in place. So if that bothers you, a quick search of "mattress clips prime" on Amazon will fix things.
Purchased this full price, no discount for my review. See the other pictures for reference.
Well, to answer this question as an Engineer, it is somewhat thin if you are looking for a substitute for a pillow top mattress. Its comfort lies not so much in the thickness or support, but in the fact that it adds extra comfort to the sheets. "How can you make the sheets more comfortable?" you may ask. Well, that part is hard to explain. I could probably answer it by comparing it to a sleeping pill. Every time you move in bed it just makes it feel so nice. Since it is not thick as a pillow top, you really can't make out what it is, except for the fact that you just want to stay in bed. Pillow tops are nice but not everyone likes to lose firmness, which you might need depending on your sleeping habits and/or conditions. [...]
I gave it a five stars because it is exactly what I was looking for. I don't really like the memory foam, as you become "part of the mattress" in a quasi-literal sense. Memory foams tend to reflect body heat which I do not want. This product keeps cool. Plus, if you are considering purchasing a memory foam mattress, keep in mind that the process used to make it can vary so much from manufacturer to manufacturer that you really don't know what you'll get, especially if you are looking to save a few bucks. About this topic, this webpage helped make a decision between regular pad and a memory foam. [...]
This might be my longest review yet, but I feel that it deserved an Engineer's point of view, especially one that is an unbiased one. I added some references so that you could make your own mind and realize how many different factors go into someone's review for this type of product (ie. his or her own definition of comfort) Hope this helps. If this manufacturer reads this, it might help you market it better to those who would benefit from it.
If we find ourselves with a new bed in the future, another one of these will absolutely be the next purchase.
