Amazon.com

Pioneer's DEH-1200MP is a no-frills CD receiver with MP3/WMA disc playback, and makes a clean and simple replacement for OEM stereos. Play back your favorite CDs and CD-R/RW discs, dial in your favorite AM/FM stations, or burn MP3/WMA CDs for hours of music on a single disc.

Pioneer Car Audio Systems

Pioneer's Mobile Business Group is known for offering the kind of in-car products that make driving more enjoyable by offering high quality audio and video, seamless connectivity and ease-of-use. Its focus is on the development of new digital technologies including audio video, navigation and satellite radio, while maintaining its strong heritage in products for car audio enthusiasts and sound competitors.

Remote control included.

DEH-1200MP Features

Detachable Faceplate
When you're away from your car, remove the face from the receiver for protection against theft.

The faceplate features a one-line, eight-character LCD display and red key illumination, along with a large rotary volume control.

CD-R/RW Playback
Play back your favorite CDs and burnt CD-R/RW discs in the slot-loading CD player.

MP3 and WMA Playback
Don't let your favorite music downloads languish on your computer hard drive. Burn them to a CD-R or CD-RW and play them right on the car stereo. Each disc you burn has the capacity to hold up to ten complete albums of MP3 music and twenty for WMA discs. Trust us, that's a lot of music.

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner
Pioneer's legendary Supertuner IIID combines the best of digital and analog tuner technologies to reduce distortion to bring you exceptional FM and AM performance. If you live in an area where reception is weak, you'll hear a big improvement in signal strength. And when you're near tall buildings, Supertuner IIID reduces the effect of multi-path noise, which occurs when the signal is reflecting off of the buildings.

MOSFET 50W x4 Amplifier for the Power Hungry
Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, delivering power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. And that doesn't just mean a boost in volume: it means that your music will be cleaner at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. Clean, efficient power that will rock your vehicle.

Inevitably, there will be those who still need more. The DEH-1200MP is therefore equipped with a pair of 2.2V rear preamp outputs for system expansion with external amps/speakers.

Get Plugged In
Use the built-in AUX input for connecting any digital portable player and other external auxiliary devices. For extra-convenient access, the input is on the front panel.

Dial In Your Sound
Tweak the sound to your liking with the on-board three-band EQ. A Loudness feature ensures ample low-end even during quiet listening, and standard balance/fader controls let you adjust the stereo image to suit your vehicle and preferences.

I paid less than eighty dollars for this brand new unit at a local store and am very impressed with what I got. I bought it to replace my radio in my RV. It has everything I need which basically is just the simple audio-input jack. Between that and the cigarette charger for power, I connect my iPhone with Pandora and I'm all set for a road trip.

The radio is pretty decent as far as the quality goes. It sounds great! An improvement over OEM stereos for sure!

The buttons are small but you get used to them. I think they could have been slightly larger but this was a design decision. I disagree with the previous person stating that the knob it too shallow. That person must have abnormally large fingers because I thought the knob is quite nice.

The radio is decent. It got all of my stations with no hassle. Memorizing stations is dead simple: Hold down the number you wish to save to and walla. That's the way it should be.

The CD playback is as expected. The audio sounds great. MP3 playback is somewhat cumbersome but it's no different than any other stereo on the market when it comes to searching/finding/playing MP3's that are in folders. (how primitive, BTW)

The AUX 1/8" input jack is the key feature here...You can input anything from a DVD player to an iPhone, iPod, Zune, whatever...It does the job and amplifies it.

The remote was killer for me because in an RV, I can control the deck from the kitchen table and that is a great feature. A little velcro on the back of the remote and I've got instant convenience that I will never lose.

The quality of the deck is higher than I expected for a sub $100 radio. The knob felt heavy and quite precise when turning. The other buttons are very small, however and ...

I bought this radio as an upgrade for my honda civic lx 2001 and it was just perfect. The moment i installed it i noticed the difference in sound quality and it was only the stereo powering the speakers. When i used a power amplifier it sounded even better. I have to admit this is NOT the most powerful stereo for a BIG audio system, but if you are like me that only want a quality music and very good sound inside your car, this should work perfect.

Pros: cheap, nice quality sound, RCA output for amplifier, aux and mp3-wav-wma etc support.
Cons: simple display (if the song name is long, it wont display it and it does not scroll on the screen), only one pair of RCA.

Just when I needed a new car stereo, Amazon happened to have a sale on this item. (The AM/FM toggle on my old radio in my Saturn stopped working and I was stuck with AM.) I chose this unit based on the brand name and other positive reviews. Not only was the price better than anything at Best Buy, but I got free shipping as well. I did have to buy some other adapters from other stores (another $30 or so extra).

Installation was fairly easy for someone like me who is not the most mechanically inclined person in the world. The set sounds great, has 18 FM presets instead of the 12 that you normally get in an OEM radio, and it seems to have good reception. My only complaint is that the buttons are small, so you have to familiarize yourself with operation of this set before driving anywhere. So far, there is no smoke coming out of the dash, so I must have done things right. I have not tried to use the CD player yet.

So for around $100, I got a decent system and installed it myself instead of paying a store at least $150 for the same thing.

Not the best deal in the world, and not the worst either.

Likes:
Simple to install and easy to wire-up to car system - Simple controls - remote control works good - pleanty of room to set your music to Ex: Hi, mid's & bass

BAD:
Seems to get Very Hot when hooked up to a 4 speaker system - Face plate is not to remove & install friendly - read out is not to easy to see unless the deck is in the dark.

Will I buy another one again? Only if Im going to sell a car and it needed a CD player to compleat the sale.

The Pioneer DEH-1200MP: Bought this unit for the CD player for my wife, the old player wore out. Installed this unit three and a half mounts ago, "it died on use." No power nothing works on it. Bench tested it and yep dead as a door nail. It has a one year warranty but as we all know these warrantees aren't worth the paper there wrote on. There is a factory authorized repair shop here in KCMO but by the time you run back and forth to the shop it always ends up costing more than the unit's worth. The same goes for sending it to Pioneer, and the always seem to have an excuse for not fixing or replacing it. I'll end up repairing it myself that is if the main IC's did not burn up. If they did then the unit will go in to my electronics scrap pile, I'll scrap out parts to fix some other piece of electronic junk. Wouldn't you know it made in Thailand! Looks like Japan outsources labor too.

Great sound for a decent price! Easy installation with proper kit. (sold separately)
Only lacks 5th star because the station preset buttons are too small and too close together - hard to find in a hurry.
