I waited till I lived with it for a few days before writing this review. The only con for me personally is it doesn't dim when you turn on your headlights. If it did I would have given it 5 stars. It is dimmable through the menu. and you can program it to dim and un dim at certain times of the day. But to me this is kinda silly. It's hard to imagine that one function would have cost a lot more to include. The Pros. Sounds Great. Way better than my factory head unit did, and way better than the Clarion I just replaced. Gets better reception than the Clarion. Installation was easy. If you've ever installed a car stereo before this one is just as easy. And since it only takes up half the depth of a typical stereo there's plenty of room inside the dash. The clarion I just took out was pretty cramped. It works great with my iPhone 5 S. Bluetooth was easy to setup. Bluetooth audio actually sounds pretty good, but it seems a little better with the usb cable. You can leave your phone in your pocket or purse and control it all from the controls of the stereo. This is a little weird at first but you get used to it after a couple of days. I haven't had a chance to make many calls but my wife said I sounded better than my setup. This wasn't a big concern for me. I drive a soft top jeep with mud tires so in the past it's always been to noisy for phone calls anyway. The Mic seems to pick up voice commands to Siri well. The Color of the screen and buttons is Blue and you can't change it. So if you don't like Blue this isn't for you. Pandora also works well and is also controlled from the radio face. I had Music playing and asked Siri for directions to work. The music faded out a little and she chimed in with GPS directions. My only gripe on that one is I can't seem to adjust her volume independently of the music.Read more ›

I installed this in my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have no complaints about it. People say that the lighting is dim, but I disagree. Their eyes are dim lol. The Bluetooth feature is my favorite part. I get in my car and Pandora begins playing immediately from my phone through the speakers. It surprised me that it also came with a microphone for phone calls. I installed the microphone near the top corner of my windshield and it works amazingly for calls. I made a few test calls and everyone could hear me perfectly. Great product so far! I would recommend it to anyone.

I used with SPS-517 Alpine Speakers in my F250 1998 factory amplifier bypassed, very important, if not, you won't have all its power.

I needed a simple head unit for my '90 Nissan Skyline GT-R, and this fit my needs perfectly. I don't listen to CDs at all anymore, so I just needed something with bluetooth connectivity, phone support, and radio. For the price, this head unit is great and has all the functionality that someone in this day and age would want/need. The phone calls come in nice and clear, and the microphone picks up my voice really well. Most people have said that they can't tell I'm in the car. The only downside of this unit is that it does not automatically dim, but you can set it so that it dims between certain times of day. Audio over bluetooth is also fantastic in quality, and it's nice to have the AUX and USB port in front of the unit.

I didn't buy it here but I paid the same price where I got it so it's a good deal either way.

I'm writing this more as a tip to those installing this yourself because I had this issue and I couldn't find any help for it and had to call pioneer and wait 20 minutes to talk to someone. Basically I installed the receiver which was nice and easy because the unit is much shorter then a CD unit which gives you some room to work behind it. I ran an RCA cable from the 2 back ports to my amplifier that I installed all of my speakers too. This is what caused my problem. I have an iPhone 6 and paired it to the unit but could not seem to hear phone calls. I could hear Bluetooth audio like Pandora and my music just fine but no phone calls. I thought I had some sort of iOS issue with the phone but it turns out that the phone calls only come through the front speakers.(Grey for front right, white for driver side front). This unit only comes with 2 RCA connections in the back which only run a subwoofer or rear speakers. Since all of my speakers were connected to the amp(which was getting the output from the rear RCA) I really didn't have front speakers. Everything was being treated as rear speakers. I just rewired the front speakers directly to the receiver and all is well again. Just thought I would pass that little nugget of info along.

If you really want to run everything through an amp you could buy the pioneer 560bt. That one has more RCA outputs but at the time of this review is twice as expensive.

Other then that I really like this stereo. Like others have said its not super intuitive but if you read the manual it's not too hard. Also if you search online pioneer has little YouTube videos that explain how to do everything except install.

It's hard not to give good reviews for things that cost $70 that used to cost $300+. This improved the sound in my existing high quality but aging stereo system. Cleaner, tighter is how I would describe it. A bit tricky to set up a full system when you only get one output, but they do make that output variable for full range or subwoofer. I do NOT like Pioneer's menu system (I have another new Pioneer in my other car). I can never remember when to scroll and when to select despite it's apparent ease. But otherwise no complaints.
