The Floorstanding Loudspeaker
Even when you don't have a fortune to spend on speakers, it's easy to set your sights higher starting from the ground up. Introducing the new SP-FS52 Floor Standing Speakers from Pioneer. Designed with uncompromising attention to detail, these speakers are ideal for home theater systems, offering remarkable audio quality from CDs, DVDs, gaming and any other audio source. Using three 5-1/4-inch woofers with oversized magnets for powerful bass, these speakers deliver the kind of high performance and exceptional quality that makes for a stunning music and home theater experience.
Over 7 Decades of Passion for Audio
Pioneer has been the industry leader in audio design and engineering firsts for over 70 years. These speakers embody all of Pioneer's high-end expertise and passion for pure audio reproduction.
Thinking Out Of the Box
It's okay to stare. With true curved cabinet design, not only are the SP-FS52 Floor Standing Speakers aesthetically more pleasing, so is the entire listening experience. The high-performance and exceptional sound quality is the result of this stiffer design, which reduces standing sound waves inside the cabinet.
As a literal example of the term 'beautifully engineered', the elegant and appealing speaker grills on the SP-FS52s protect the speakers, but are also removable if you prefer to see the drivers exposed.
A Taller Speaker
When Pioneer designed the SP-FS52s, they listened carefully to what users were saying they wanted. As a result, Pioneer has increased the speaker height by 3 inches. The result is improved sound quality due to the speakers being closer to ear-level.
Whatever your system, or the source of your audio, the SP-FS52 Floor Standing Speakers are ready to bring your listening experience to the next level.
The Inside Story
The job of the crossover in a speaker is to break the audio signal into low, high, and sometimes mid-range frequencies. It's an important job, and it uses circuitry like inductors and capacitors to accomplish it. Most speakers use an extremely simple, low-cost crossover made up of a single capacitor and inductor. The Pioneer SP-FS52 utilizes a sophisticated 8-component, high-quality crossover. The reasoning is simple: because it's one more way of ensuring high quality sound that makes its presence known.
In the SP-FS52, Pioneer has added a structured surface to the 5-1/4-inch woofer. By doing so, not only is rigidity improved, so is bass accuracy. Engineers have also vented the pole piece, improving bass response from the same size woofers in previous models.
To widen the sweet spot of the 1-inch High Efficiency Soft Dome tweeter, Pionner engineered a custom wave guide. Increasing tweeter efficiency, together with newly designed crossovers, allows the SP-FS52's play louder using less power.

Top Customer Reviews
These speakers were originally meant to compliment my Polk Monitor40 series II bookshelf speakers in a 4.1 setup but when I finally started to use them together it quickly became apparent to me that the sound from the SP-FS52's was more natural and had more of that reach out and touch it type of sound quality. I found myself disabling the Polk speakers 90% of the time because I prefer the audio experience the Pioneers provide that much more. I soon realized the Polk speakers were destined to a life of dust collecting if I kept them so I decided to sell my Polk Monitor 40's to my mom on the cheap and purchase two more of the SP-FS52's.
The only bad experience I've had so far is while playing the Main Menu music from CoD 4 on Spotify quite loudly from 0:08 to 0:20 the tweeter begins to rattle a bit on the right speaker, but not the left(this is not a defective speaker, I tried swapping the speakers left for right and no matter which speaker it is, it will still rattle only on the right speaker). This is the only song/source that has made the tweeters rattle from my experience so far. It could just be an imperfection in the track itself or many other variables as well so I'm not going to take a star off for it but I would love to hear if anyone else gets the rattle effect with other speakers as well
If you are on a budget and you can find these babies for $99/each just get them. Get them and never look back. Pair these up with a great receiver and high quality speaker wire and you're golden. The reactions these have raised from friends and family has been priceless. People who don't even care much for sound quality can't help but drop their jaw for a minute at these gems.
Give these guys -
A high quality signal - eg amp and preamp north of ~ $500 ea
A modern hq recording
A room size no larger than ~12x12
A moderate listening level
and then look angrily at your $1500 monitors.
too good to be true.
For comparison, my old 5.1 "system" was cobbled together from active monitors from a small PA (3X Roland CM-30's), the rear speakers were older (but great) active studio monitors, and the sub was a little bitty Behringer that didn't mind low SPL's. This system, since it was designed to work together, is so much smoother, with no gaps, and can be set up in a decent room with a modern receiver in minutes. I recommend the Denon AVR-S720W because it's really inexpensive, easy to set up, and sounds very nice.
I did unplug the Pioneer Subwoofer that comes with the 5.1 set because it didn't sound like I wanted in the location that it has to go. If you have more placement flexibility it can be made to work. Otherwise, I'd get a more powerful sub for (possibly) less money.
