Sound great for the price. I'm an audiophile. These are not $300 speakers and they wont sound like it. I'm using them in my 93 Miata as custom rear deck speakers, mainly to fill in the mids and add some bass which is otherwise non-existent due to only having two 5.5 inch door speakers. I have them hooked up to a Kenwood single din head unit that retailed for around $120 on sale.
They have a full range of sound with clear highs and a surprising amount of bass for being so cheap. If your looking to get the most out of them i would suggest hooking them up through a small amplifier. Without it, at high volumes the bass gets a little distorted but not enough for the average Joe-Schmoe to notice. Would make a great upgrade or replacement for stock speakers. They sound just as good as Kenwood and Kicker speakers I've bought for 2-3X the price. Kickers tend to sound a little tinny and hollow to me, these Pioneers have impressed me. I have always been happy with Pioneer products.
