12-Inch Shallow Step Up S4 Subwoofer

Amazon.com

~This 12-inch shallow subwoofer handles 1500 watts max., 400 watts nominal power, and delivers deep bass with top-notch sound quality thanks to features like Pioneer's extremely strong and lightweight Interlaced Basalt/Carbon Fiber Reinforced IMPP Cone.

Pioneer's Shallow Series Subs

Lean and Mean
The Pioneer Shallow Series subwoofer derives its big bass sound from its innovative design. Although only 3-1/4 inches thick, the Shallow Series uses state-of-the-art, patented air suspension technology to create a tight spring of pressure that delivers a wide-ranging bass response. The result is a radically thin subwoofer that fits a variety of enclosures and gives your system accurate, powerful, and satisfying bass.

"ib-FLAT"
Known as the "flat" subwoofer, the ib-FLAT name is derived from the speaker's two most outstanding characteristics. The "i" stands for intelligent design and describes the cutting-edge air-suspension technology that gives the speaker its remarkable size and strength. "b FLAT" refers to its ability to accurately and easily play 29.135 Hertz, the sound of the lowest black key on the piano and one of the most difficult to reproduce. Musical and robust, the ib-FLAT boasts an amazing range, enabling you to hear each performance on a grand scale.

Install Anywhere
The sleek design and compact size of Pioneer Shallow Series subs enables you to perform great custom installations. The Shallow Series plays perfectly in both tight and hidden spaces, providing you with the same booming bass performance of a regular subwoofer. Whether hidden or seen, the big bass sound of these versatile speakers will definitely get you noticed.

TS-SW3001S4 Features

Interlaced Basalt/Carbon Fiber Reinforced IMPP Cone
To ensure that you get more natural bass, we've incorporated out new Basalt fiber technology into our shallow subwoofers. The volcanic-rock fibers create a cone that is lightweight, rigid, well damped, stable in temperature extremes, and more . In short, this bass really rocks.

3-Layer Radial Surround
A sub's surround plays a key role in its overall performance. In order for bass response to be clear and tight, the surround has to respond evenly around its entire circumference without flexing or puckering, even at high volume levels. That's why Pioneer created a surround consisting of two layers of urethane, with a layer of interwoven fiber between them. It's strong, stable, and it reduces distortion.

Spring-Compression Binding Posts
Why does Pioneer use Spring-Compression Binding Posts, instead of standard speaker wire terminals? So your speaker wire NEVER shakes loose due to vibration (either from the road or from your music). When you insert the wire, the connector keeps a constant pressure on it. And it won't let go. These binding posts will accept wire as large as 8-gauge.

Add Newly Designed Spoke Grilles
Protect your subwoofer with the UD-G308 grille. This stylish spoke grille is a must add-on when building a system and gives the look of pure professionalism.

I recently installed a full sound system in my new Truck (2012 Tundra) and I had originally purchased two 12" Rockford Fosgate Punch P3 Shallow subs from a local shop in a custom box built to fit under my rear seats powered by a JL 1000/1 amp. Everything in the system was great EXCEPT I was absolutely disappointed with fosgate shallow subs I had them removed the next day and was a little worried since it was the first time I heard a shallow depth sub I really though I was going to have to give up the deep bass I wanted due to the form factor but I decided to give these Pioneer subs a chance since they were cheap (cheaper then the fosgates even) I received them yesterday and boy was I shocked the subs installed in the same box with the same settings was dramatically better in every way then the fosgate subs. They hit louder,LOWER and cleaner then the fosgates by far. Im extremely pleased with these subs for the money I don't think they can be beat for a shallow depth setup. I recommend them to anyone looking for a great shallow sub to check this out first. I have heard that the Alpine Type-R shallow subs are better but since they cost 5 times as much I don't think they can possibly be 5 times better. I Love these subs!

Good sound for the money in a beautiful and shallow package. I have it in a sealed .75 cf fiberglass enclosure, running off a 1200 peak watt mono amp and it handles it just fine. I've heard 12" traditional deep subs that don't sound as good as this one. The response and articulation are impressive. This sub can handle the extreme lows of around 20hz! Cosmetically, it's a good looking sub. It would look great in a clear or windowed enclosure. The back of the sub is curved smoothly and looks nice.

This is the best shallow mount subwoofer I have ever owned! I had some issues at first but that was because one of the channels on my amp was blown and I didn't realise it. After I got it all hooked up and turned it on I immediately had to just my mirrors and I'm only at 100rms!!!! Definitely will be buying another soon!

I have owned Kickers, Kenwoods, JL Audio,...you get the idea. These subs are incredible if you are limited on space available in your box. Some people are a bit weary of "Shallow Mount" subwoofers, however one thing to realize is what that really means. It means they don't take up as much air space in that tiny little box you are going to put them inside. So they will equivalently have more airspace than any standard size subwoofer. And as we all know, Air Space = More Bass, and let me tell you. These subwoofers are nothing short of incredible.

Also I would like to note that it isn't mentioned that these subwoofers have a break in period. It is best to keep the power on them below 200Wrms for about 10 hours of play time before really cranking them up.

I bought two of the Pioneer shallow mounted subs to fit into my suv 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe while at the same time hoping to save cargo space. So I stumbled upon these "shallow mount" subs, and thought id give them a try. Boy was I surprised! These things take up very little space, and they hit hard! You could never tell the difference between these shallow mounts vs a standard sub. I paired these 4ohm subs with a Hifonics GLX1000.1D 750rms @ 2ohm. (also bought from amazon)

I went with a down firing enclosure which solved a couple issues for me...saved a ton of space, allowing my rear seats to still recline. Also prevents would be thieves from looking in and seeing the subwoofers. Even though its down firing, these subs hit very hard! Now don't get me wrong, Im not trying to enter any SPL contests but for the money, saved space and quality...Im glad I bit the bullet and tried a shallow mounted sub.

You know a good sub goes deep when you get that tickle feeling in your ears from the bass.

I thought that with this speaker being a shallow mount speaker that it would be quite a bit of sacrifice in the sound quality! We'll there's a reason that most of the buyer's have left anywhere from upper 4 to 5 star ratings! It works great and is really constructed quite well! No regrets and if I could fit another in the truck, I would not hesitate to do so! Definitely a head turner!

I've got two of these hooked up to a pioneer amp. They go prefect together. They hit hard, so hard they may hit as hard as a conventional subwoofer. I didn't think it was possible. Great price and sound quality. You won't be disappointed.

I don't give out 5 stars willy nilly. its like saying I love you to a girl on the first date. but I do love this girl foolishly. I just hooked it up and its thumpin. didn't even break in yet, I have 300 watts driving it or pushing it or however you wanna say it. I might go to 350 but I don't really need to. Its solid thin and beautiful. only the connector for the svc plus and neg are on opposite sides and juxtaposed(I think that's the right word) instead of right next to eachother. Ive been a alpine *&^* riding groupie for years, but the price point for a shallow mount 12 with 400 watt potential is right in my range for the pioneer and the variety of the brand to have 2 or 4 ohm is covering all basis. I don't know why alpine forgot about its customers and just put something forth to compete in the market it seems. 800 watt rms.. I would have to buy a new amp... 4 ohm only svc no versatility. alpine disappointed me in the shallow market. we will see how this pioneer does in my thin .8 cubic volume box. it already sounds as good as a traditional 12inch sub. maybe its the polyfill. haha. yeah alpine, ill say the polyfil makes it better than your product.
forgot to mention the order came in two days literally.im cheap. reg shipping. . good job.

also to mention the enclosure r/t 12 whatever its called is not allowing me to review it yet. The box is fine. although there is nowhere to grab it. just have to squeeze. no prob. thought it would have those edges on it. also the wire connector little attachment for the woofer to hook into is the cheap old school plastic lever thingy. the male part were all bent on the inside. but the thing was so cheap I cant complain. I could have taken that whole thing of and replaced it with gold push spring loaded terminals and still been ahead of the game. if I could review the box id give it 3.5 stars.
