The writing also felt somehow overly simplistic (maybe I was reading a book meant for someone younger than me, but the sex scenes make me doubtful of that), and the relationship felt more forced than not (to the point I wouldn't be surprised if this all WAS just hoodoo or vampire seduction or whatever). It felt like there needed to be more space for character development or deeper understanding of BOTH our main characters, but I understand the topic at hand didn't warrant that so much. Those things aside, it was a fun little adventure all the same and I certainly do not regret the read.
I loved how we get to see Cateryn’s development and bolster in confidence as the book progresses and it wasn’t just an immediate thing. She grew into herself and her acceptance of her responsibilities with her newfound powers. Rainier, I loved him. I loved how the author made him an emotional man, not sappy, mind you, but a man who wasn’t ashamed of expressing his emotions to the woman he loved.
I loved the easy tit a tat between the H and h and found myself grinning at their exchange for the duration of this book.
There were a few grammatical errors here and there. Thankfully, it did nothing to hinder you from enjoying the story. I look forward to the next book in this series and recommend this book to anyone looking for an enchanting paranormal romance.
I'm only disappointed in the fact that it is a standalone novel and I wont be able to read other adventures with the characters introduced in this standalone.
I will be looking forward to other contributions and new stories in this series.
I downloaded an advanced copy of this title from the author and have willfully written an honest review.
