Review

"Pisces: Book 1 (The Zodiac Twin Flame Series) by Rachel Medhurst is a very interesting, unique story that I think will take readers by surprise. It is not your typical romance, but romance readers will enjoy the slow burning love that ignites between Pisces and Antony. I loved the characters in this story. They were very well written and seemed like they knew exactly what they wanted. Pisces struggled with completing her mission and sometimes wanting to be selfish and just live her life like a normal teenager.I think teenage readers especially will be able to relate to her struggles and wonder why there is so much pressure on her." 4* - Reviewed By Janelle Fila for Readers' Favorite

"PISCES by Rachel Medhurst was really an enjoyable read and a good start to what might be a great series. It's fast paced, full of suspense and intrigue which is exactly what one looks for in a YA novel." -JJ Smit for YA Insider

"Pisces is a feel-good, crazy enjoyable thrill ride that combines the traits of the Zodiac with a divine mission" - YA BookMadness Blog

This book looked interesting, and definitely contained some great parts. Overall, though, its writing was silly and unfavorable. I was excited because reviews gave such a high opinion of the fantasy book. I don't know how many fantasies these people have read, but this didn't measure up.
The story is of a girl, who, with 11 other "siblings" need to find their own soulmates to bring more love into the world. They each have powers and personalities according to their zodiac name, guardians ("parents"), and a nemesis ("dysfunctional"). This girl eventually finds her soulmate. Most of the book one or both are in denial, as they go through crazy experiences together to save each other from the head bad guy.
PROS: What a fabulous idea! Combining the zodiacs with a search for soulmates is definitely original. The powers and personalities of each "sibling" is a nice touch. The subject promises a tantalising plot.
The character craves freedom which everyone can identify with and empathize. There are funny characters, like Derek, a mentor character, the "father", and the arch enemy, Nick. Each is clearly displayed and plays a roll in advancing the plot.
I read the first page or two and was enthralled. This book promises action! It promises character development! It promises plot twists!
CONS This book did not keep its promises.
First off the overall writing was redundant, contradictory, and silly. She would say the same thing twice and say far too much. Even at the end of the book she is explaining her character to readers. She TELLS us about her character instead of SHOWing it.

SO GOOD! I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. And I loved it. The romance wasn't over the top, eyes meet and it's insta-love, there was a bit of actual development there. The background plot and the embodiments of the different zodiac were all fun and interesting, and it was well written. I seriously can't wait for the rest of the series to be done! I felt like it all flowed very smoothly, and it wasn't jerky as I can easily imagine a story of this undertaking could have been. Well done! You have a new fan, madam!

I was hesitant to read this book once I realized there was a fantasy element to it. I don't generally read fantasy because I don't enjoy it. I picked this one up thinking it was a romance, which it was as well. The author Rachel Medhurst has done a great job of changing my opinion of the fantasy genre. The book is set on earth as we know it and the characters are very human in their emotions which has made the transition into fantasy easier. I loved that they had powers and that drove the story line that was based around Pisces. Her mission is to find her perfect love match. Each of the signs need to find theres as well which will be examined in future books. Aries is next which I am happy about because that's what I am. This is a fast paced read but the characters are developed and interesting. Ms Medhurst has made a fan out of me.

Firstly, I would like to thank Miss Rachel Medhurst for providing me with a copy of this book to read in exchange for my honest review. A review that I have spent the better part of a day trying to come up with. This was a difficult one for me. I really wasn't sure how I felt about it and needed some extra time to wallow around in my notes and thoughts. So here goes…

Pisces and her 11 “brothers and sisters” make up The Zodiac. Their particular mission on Earth is to find their twin flame, soul mate, and be an example to the world of what true love is and to bring more happiness and love to Earth. Their “parents”, a.k.a. their Guardians, are supposed to help them along the way to complete their mission. (did I mention that they each have special abilities?) The bad guys are called the Dysfunctionals. Their main mission is to keep the twin flames from getting together. They like evil and hate and want to keep the balance on the chaotic side.
Pisces is the emotional type and battles with wanting to complete her mission and wanting to just forget it all and live a normal life. But a normal life is not even a possibility because there is always someone trying to kidnap her. Enter the bodyguard…
Pisces has always imagined what it would be like when she finally met her twin flame; sparks and butterflies and all that. So when Antony, her bodyguard, comes along without bringing on the fireworks Pisces is quick to dismiss him. Her brothers and sisters tell her it’s plain-as-day that he’s the one, but she can’t accept that, and neither does Antony. Yet.
She gets kidnapped by Nick, a Dysfunctional, rescued, and later kidnapped again, and then rescued again.

Pisces was a sweet paranormal romance.
It was pretty much PG so safe for young adults in my book.
I write as well as read more sensual romance but a nice break from writing my trilogy Scars of Julia & Secrets of Jake.
Thank you for the nice read.
