Gabby and Logan have been best friends since grade school, and have just recently started to look at each other with interest, but are afraid of expressing it to protect their friendship. Just as Logan is about to move to NYC they decide to act on their feelings and of course you know the typical outcome. Logan is very alpha, and Gabby is a very strong woman, and they both have their vulnerabilities- which I love. There's very little details to the sub-characters, except one couple and I can guess how that book will typically go too. If you're reading this series, maybe these two finally realizing their feelings is good and right, within that context. It was well written and like I said I came away with an 'a-h-h-h-h-h' feeling but it didn't make me want to read more in the series. Sorry.
PS- there is 'pistol whipping' but it's not to either of them, and it's a very minor plot addition later in the story. The first of the two times the gun is used in the story, Gabby totally forgets the gun in the car, in her rush to find her phone- that's how un-military/adventure this story is. Just sayin'........
Set in Windsor, Colorado, the reader follows childhood best friends Gabriella Crawford and Logan Reeves as their friendship unexpectedly blossoms into a passionate romantic relationship. Their longtime friendship takes a surprising turn during a business trip when Gabbie and Logan are forced to share the same bed. Suddenly seeing each other in a different light, an undeniable attraction is sparked between them, but with passion comes angst, past secrets, and career opportunities ... can their friendship turn into a love relationship, or will it tear them apart?
Author Ashley Bostock weaves a delightful erotic romance story that easily draws the reader into Gabbie and Logan's story. I loved how the author takes Gabbie and Logan's lifelong friendship and unexpectedly develops it into a passionate romance intertwined with internal conflicts and challenges that keeps the reader engaged and wondering if their new found passion and love for each other is worth risking their friendship for, and will it be strong enough to survive.
I loved the complexity of the characters, their witty banter, their sizzling chemistry, and the passionate love scenes that was not overly explicit. The author weaves a fun storyline that flows smoothly as Gabbie and Logan's story unfolds, it kept me easily engaged and turning the pages, eager to see how their relationship would evolve and turn out. I couldn't help but cheer Gabbie and Logan on as their romantic relationship blossomed, this sigh worthy story left a satisfied smile on my face.
While Pistol Whipped is the third book in the Girls with Guns series, it can be read as a stand alone story.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
***Reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock. ***
I enjoyed the way that the story was written and the way that Gabbie and Logan interacted. They were meant to be together for sure. The characters are all complex and real. I loved the banter and give and take way that Gabbie and Logan's relationship worked as both a friendship and romantic relationship. The story flows well and moves at a speed that keeps you interested but not feeling rushed. I wanted to figure out how Gabbie and Logan were going to work out in the end.
This is the third in the series but can be read as a stand alone story. It shows the characters from previous books but it focuses on different main characters and they have their story that is separate from the past stories. This author was new to me and I really enjoyed this story.
