About the Author

Ashley Bostock was born and raised in Colorado where she currently resides with her husband, two children, her dog and two cats. She loves reading, writing, and music and is always trying to find more time in the day to incorporate all three. Seeking an outlet and pursuing her life-long passion for writing, she began composing her first novel in late 2013. She has traveled all over the world, but still has an extensive list of places she would love to visit. Anywhere near a sky-blue ocean will always be at the top of that list. She carries a Bachelor’s Degree in History with a concentration in Elementary Education from Metropolitan State College of Denver. While she loves children, she now fears teaching, which probably has something to do with being a stay-at-home mom.

I have to start by saying I got this from Net Galley and that I haven't read any of the previous books in this series. The reason I requested it was mainly because of the cover. I like action/military/romance-type books. That said, this wasn't that. Yes, it was romance, and yes, I'm still caught up thinking about the story, after finishing it- but, this was basically a contemporary romance with a lot of angst about, "I don't want to express my new feelings and ruin a life-long friendship that means the world to me" story.
Gabby and Logan have been best friends since grade school, and have just recently started to look at each other with interest, but are afraid of expressing it to protect their friendship. Just as Logan is about to move to NYC they decide to act on their feelings and of course you know the typical outcome. Logan is very alpha, and Gabby is a very strong woman, and they both have their vulnerabilities- which I love. There's very little details to the sub-characters, except one couple and I can guess how that book will typically go too. If you're reading this series, maybe these two finally realizing their feelings is good and right, within that context. It was well written and like I said I came away with an 'a-h-h-h-h-h' feeling but it didn't make me want to read more in the series. Sorry.
PS- there is 'pistol whipping' but it's not to either of them, and it's a very minor plot addition later in the story. The first of the two times the gun is used in the story, Gabby totally forgets the gun in the car, in her rush to find her phone- that's how un-military/adventure this story is. Just sayin'........

Pistol Whipped is a wonderful friends to lovers erotic romance story that has a great mixture of sweetness and sexiness that will easily keep the readers turning the pages.

Set in Windsor, Colorado, the reader follows childhood best friends Gabriella Crawford and Logan Reeves as their friendship unexpectedly blossoms into a passionate romantic relationship. Their longtime friendship takes a surprising turn during a business trip when Gabbie and Logan are forced to share the same bed. Suddenly seeing each other in a different light, an undeniable attraction is sparked between them, but with passion comes angst, past secrets, and career opportunities ... can their friendship turn into a love relationship, or will it tear them apart?

Author Ashley Bostock weaves a delightful erotic romance story that easily draws the reader into Gabbie and Logan's story. I loved how the author takes Gabbie and Logan's lifelong friendship and unexpectedly develops it into a passionate romance intertwined with internal conflicts and challenges that keeps the reader engaged and wondering if their new found passion and love for each other is worth risking their friendship for, and will it be strong enough to survive.

I loved the complexity of the characters, their witty banter, their sizzling chemistry, and the passionate love scenes that was not overly explicit. The author weaves a fun storyline that flows smoothly as Gabbie and Logan's story unfolds, it kept me easily engaged and turning the pages, eager to see how their relationship would evolve and turn out. I couldn't help but cheer Gabbie and Logan on as their romantic relationship blossomed, this sigh worthy story left a satisfied smile on my face.

While Pistol Whipped is the third book in the Girls with Guns series, it can be read as a stand alone story.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Logan and Gabbie have been the best of friends for as long as they can remember. There has never been any love for each other but the love of a best friend between the two until the day that Gabbie is modeling some lingerie in her store for a client. Logan has never thought about Gabbie as sexy but suddenly there is a heat in his eyes that has never been there. Gabbie thinks she catches a glance of it, but brushes it off. Gabriella has avoided sexual interactions as in the past it hasn't done her any favors and to her she could really take it or leave it when it comes to sex. Even though her friends are hooking up, moving on, or getting married, her store Lolita is her life, not a man. Gabbie becomes frustrated with her current boyfriend once Logan points out how absent he really is in her life. She goes to Logan's with alcohol and a plan. The plan for him to be her next sexual experience, she can trust him since he's her best friend. Only she didn't plan on telling him, she thought that she kept it to herself. Logan thinks it through and decides this might be his only chance at going for the feelings that have been stirring for his precious Gabbie. He goes for her plan, which she didn't expect. But there was so much more she didn't expect either. She was just supposed to have a better sexual experience than in the past, she wasn't suppose to fall for him and now he's moving to New York to work for his father's law firm. Now she has all these feelings she's never had to deal with and she has no idea what do to about it.

This was a fun read. Gabbie and Logan have been best friends since childhood. Logan had never really seen Gabbie for anything else until recently. He's not sure what changed but all of a sudden he sees her as a woman that he is seriously attracted to. Logan doesn't want to screw things up and has no idea if Gabbie is feeling it too or not. Gabbie knows that Logan is hot but ever since an incident in college has never been that interested in sex or felt the need for it. One night, before Logan leaves to go check out his father's law firm to decide if he wants to take over or not, Gabbie gets a little drunk and spills a few things that Logan didn't know before. It sets off the attraction even more and lets both know that the other feels it. Gabbie doesn't really remember much from that night, at least not at first. Logan isn't sure what to do about taking the job because he will have to move and if he should make a move with Gabbie or not.
I enjoyed the way that the story was written and the way that Gabbie and Logan interacted. They were meant to be together for sure. The characters are all complex and real. I loved the banter and give and take way that Gabbie and Logan's relationship worked as both a friendship and romantic relationship. The story flows well and moves at a speed that keeps you interested but not feeling rushed. I wanted to figure out how Gabbie and Logan were going to work out in the end.
This is the third in the series but can be read as a stand alone story. It shows the characters from previous books but it focuses on different main characters and they have their story that is separate from the past stories. This author was new to me and I really enjoyed this story.
