I've taken a couple of screenwriting classes now, and read a number of books on screenwriting, and this, despite it's diminutive size, is one of my favorites. It very concisely spells out some of the concepts of how to build compelling stories (and compelling characters!), with lots of examples from the Pixar movies. To me it's a crutch to fall back on when I'm writing my own story. A review of these principals helps me focus my story. Really really good!

A great overview on Pxar's movies and what makes them memorable. An excellent book on writing craft and story structure.

An informative analysis of the Pixar approach / attention to story. A few typos, I wish it was proofread.

'Pixar Storytelling' offers a terrific perspective not just about WHAT, but more importantly HOW Pixar creates memorable tales wrapped around characters that you connect with emotionally. Dean Moscovitz offers masterful insight without bogging you down in extraneous details. I'm on my third reading, and pick up something new every time. As a speaking and storytelling coach who is also a huge Pixar fan, this is now one of the first books I recommend to my clients, and audiences.

Whether you are a screen writer, leader, public speaker or sales professional, your storytelling skills will improve to a much higher level when you buy this book. It will save you months, if not years, of frustrating trial-and-error experience.

Bottom line: buy this book now. You'll be thrilled you did.

I'm a fan of books that deconstruct good story telling.

Story by Robert McKee and Save the Cat by Blake Snyder are some books I have in my collection.

This book has really done something special by deconstructing Pixar's work.

The first 9 pages of this book tell you so much in such a short delivery that it is hard to believe. In just these first few pages you immediately understand why Pixar's work is so moving. The epiphanies come one after another as you continue to read.

At about 100 pages it is a quick read but it is deep with insights and practical advice.

Completely worth the pocket change required to have it.
