Rivals in Life. Gamers in Love.
After an app she develops crashes and burns, Olive Peale tries her hand at the family business. Running a wedding venue can’t be as hard as writing code... right?
As if juggling bridezillas and cheating grooms wasn’t stressful enough, a rival venue swoops into town with fireworks, helicopter rentals, and a charming owner.
Wesley Belmont wants to be Olive’s friend.
And maybe something more.
But what would an arrogant playboy like him want with a nerd like her?
Unless he’s determined to put her out of business...
With her family business in trouble, Olive turns to her trusted gamer friend Culler for help.
Wesley and Culler are as different as night and day.
Culler would be the perfect ally against Wesley.
Culler is the perfect man, actually.
Except for one problem…
Olive doesn’t know his name.
Has never seen his face.
Never met him in real life.
Until Culler suggests they meet.
And Olive discovers she’s in for the surprise of her life.
Pixely Ever After is an enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy that will leave you with a big goofy grin on your face. Perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella and You’ve Got Mail.

Olive is not the most mature young adult--something I could definitely relate to--but she's trying hard to help out the family business even if it's not really a good fit for her. Wesley . . . is a mess. But he's also very good at his job. A job that directly threatens Olive's. Of course they were going to start clashing the moment they met. But underneath all the conflict is a deep connection that was authentically developed, and when they finally get together, their HEA feels like it was earned. These are two characters who really belong together.
Speaking of two characters who really belong together, I'm already looking forward to Elyse and Aiden's love story in book 2! If this book was any indication, I'm expecting another quirky romance with plenty of humor and just the right amount of heat.
received this on an ARc, my honest review.
Olive's app coding business went bankrupt and she got back into her father's wedding business. She finds it difficult to deal with people and she is not really a customer service person (in one scene she says she's got mild Asperger's). Her friends have their own quirky sides and it seems like they are set up for their own books later.
Wesley Belmont is a vet school drop out and a former professional poker player who now owns another wedding business in town. I was ready to hate Wesley because the first scene we see him, he drives drunk and nobody bats an eye. But he expressed his own remorse later and apparently it's not a habit. Wesley and Olive become rivals and then friends, marathoning Game of Thrones and he comes to her aid when there is a death in her family. But Olive is in love with Culler, her gaming companion and online friend that she's never seen in person.
Steam level: not very graphic. We do get to witness some infidelity by a minor character.
To sum up, I liked the humor but the romantic denouement was a little abrupt.
I received an ARC copy and this is a voluntary, honest review.
Olive is unlike any heroine I’ve read and I absolutely adored her. The banter between her and Wes was done so perfectly I felt it showed the level of compatibility they had even early on.
The surrounding characters were fantastically unique and especially entertaining to read. Her friends, in particular, are so varied in personality that I am really excited to see how their stories work out.
Great read with a quirky twist.
I enjoyed this story but the writing is a bit odd and definitely a slow burn romance.
These characters are so unique and a little odd. This whole story is about weddings and everyone of Olives friends are in some way involved with the wedding business. Olives dad is in the venue business; one friend is a photographer; another is in the baking business and the other is in a band. Wesley was an interesting character also. He was super drunk when you first met him and then he is super confident one minute and the next he was awkward. I liked the chemistry he had with Olive but they definitely did not get along in the beginning. She really didn’t like him in the beginning and wanted nothing to do with him. He couldn’t leave her alone and seemed to be around when she needed him. Unfortunately this story turns into a tearjerker but Wesley had her back and was there for her. The gaming aspect was interesting and pretty cool at times.
As I said this is definitely a slow burn romance with only one bedroom scene that didn’t last very long. I was hoping for a little more from them at the end considering how the next book starts out.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

BUT the maniacal pleasure of watching Game of Thrones: The Rains of Castamere with someone who doesn't know what's coming is Universal. I have had that joy not once, but twice, and it was that moment in the book (quite late, unfortunately) that everything clicked for me.
It might have taken me a while, but once I'd wrapped my head around the artisanal ice cream, seahorse dresses and unabashed collection of Funko Pop figures, I grew to like Olive. And Wesley. Oh Wesley.
So, a rocky start for me, but if book two is Elyse and Aiden, I am there!
