Beautifully made game. A pleasant little surprise. I had never heard of this game until I stumbled on it while scrolling through games on Amazon. It sounded intriguing and had good reviews so I bought it. This game sucked up my life, for the brief story it offers. There's maybe 10-15 hrs of gameplay altogether. I wish it was longer but that doesn't at all diminish how awesome a game this is. Like I said, it's a beautifully made game. But I am not just referring to visual appeal, though the graphics and artistic detail are stunning. The story itself is gripping, heart wrenching and captivating. The music is lovely, encapsulating each moment in the game perfectly. Overall, if you get this game you will not at all be disappointed.

This game is pretty good, it feels like a puzzle game without any puzzles. It takes place during the Black Plague in France, and you basically have to protect your brother from the Inquisition, and the rats who actually are the plague- they eat everything alive but as long as it’s day or there’s a fire going, you’re safe.
Very basic gameplay, nothing difficult about it, other than I think it needs a patch or two, as followers tend to get stuck, but I’m sure they’ll fix it, not a game breaker.
Problem is, most great games if you get stuck, you keep trying and trying until you get through. With this however, I calmly put the controller and just said “eh”.
It’s also very much a one and done, but it’s also a great story, which the way the game is designed you can’t run around taking everyone out with followers who can’t defend themselves.
Reminds me a lot of the game Vampyr, but there’s no safe place in this story, there’s no resting it’s go go go, which is a nice change.
Haven’t finished it yet, but unless the rats turn into humans or the story gets really crazy, I’m sure it’ll be fine. Good game great story, don’t expect to be pressing buttons for combos, though.

(SPOILER SAFE) I purchased this title (physical copy) at launch and almost let it sit on the self. I spent 2 weeks to power through, and loved every minute, no matter how much I played till my mind was crushed by exhaustion. If you like horror, mystery, suspense, or unconventional adventure games that require lateral thinking, A PLague Tale: Innocence will satisfy you for a weekend or 2. 10-15 hrs of gameplay, Low-Moderate reply value.

Story: You are in the 1300's in France trying to survive the Black Plague, you have to evade Renegade Knights, swarms of Plague Rats, Panicking Survivors, and even simply becoming a victim of the Plague Itself. (SPOILERS NEXT) You will guide Amicia and Hugo (the children of House De Rune) as you master the arts of Alchemy (This is the Dark Ages). The story takes place over the course of a year and the seasons have more than a cosmetic effect on the environment.

Mechanics (CONTAINS SPOILERS): 3rd person action adventure with very deep stealth elements. Patrols of Inquisition Soldiers, English Invaders, & at least 1 very disturbed Crusader carry torches and lanterns to hunt you down as well as ward off the swarms of rats. Shadows conceal you but also invite the swarms, with a heavy focus on puzzle solving. Your tools include torches, thrown apparatuses, a sling for improved power and range (at the cost of being noisy) and various potions concocted through alchemy for various effects, including everything from sleeping potions to explosives. You will need to forage & scavenge for ingredients such as Salt, Sulfur, & Alchohol. You will upgrade your equipment such as your Sling's power & reload speed (in a holster upgrade skill tree) as well as your overall capacity for the number of ready potions (ammo). You will recruit a band of survivors with skills to complement your lack thereof, they will include an apprentice alchemist (the mage) a set of twin rogues (pick-locks and sniper) and an apprentice blacksmith (fighter). You will need all these skills and your fellow survivors to beat this game.

I didn't get this game until i saw some reviews on YouTube(inside gaming and Jim Sterling the ones I remember). I played on xbox one now the graphics and controls while not the worst they're the weakest things in the game. I loved the story, the kids start the game not knowing each other and you play and watch them develope as well as there relationship. I grew attached to them. I felt the loss with every character death. The new game mechanics they added were a big risk and it paid off. How you solve problems using the rats and how they go about doing it. It's a game worth trying at least rent it or you'll going to miss an original story!

I honestly wasn't expecting the mechanics at all, while some people has compared it to the last of us in terms of gameplay and history, I honestly didn't saw much of it, instead it feels like a 3D puzzle game where you have to combine stealth, use of the environment and sometimes combat, in order to not die, since pretty much every single enemy (human or rat) kills your character in one hit.

The history is pretty good too, it feels fresh. It took me around 15-16 hours to complete all chievos (and had to use a guide to find some collectibles I was missing on my first run) so it feels like a fair amount of content for 40 bucks.

I consumed this game. It has amazing storytelling along with graphics. I was immediately drawn in, and the characters grew on me. I normally don't care for stealth games, but this game is different. I think it's because of the little brother that's on the line. It made it different because I cared about the characters. The gameplay can get a little frustrating at times, but as a whole I would give this game a 10/10. Easily one of my favorite games of all time.

One of my favorite games. My daughter loves the game as well. I loved the story revolving around Amicia and her little brother, emotional. The gameplay is similar to a stealth game with some combat and is fun. The music and visuals are superb. If you enjoy a focused, single player game, check this out.
