EDITED REVIEW:

I used this stuff to cover/protect glass paint. I painted the Mod Podge on with 3 coats, cured it for 28 days, and then put them all through the dishwasher. It did NOT come out perfect! The areas where the MP was thin turned out fine, bullet-proof even, but where I painted it thick? It apparently wasn't cured enough, because it re-absorbed the water and turned white and milky again. (See the first photo.)

LESSON #1: Paint this stuff on THIN, and if you paint it thick, use extra drying time. 28 days may not be enough!

I let the glasses sit another 28 days to re-cure them, then washed a test glass. The thick areas got milky AGAIN, but it wasn't as bad as before. At this point I said "screw it" and put the glasses in the oven to try to heat cure them. 350 degrees for 30 minutes (although there's a video where the "Decoupage Queen" does it at 175 degrees for an hour instead) putting the glasses in the oven before turning it on and then letting the oven cool entirely before opening it. I put all the glasses in the dishwasher, and voila! The Mod Podge stayed clear and dry! (See the second photo.)

LESSON #2: Yes, you can heat cure Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge stuff in certain circumstances!

I was covering glass paint on clear glassware; I'm certain if I had coated something like paper then the oven would have singed it. I also let the glasses dry before heat curing. I don't know if it will work for your project, but probably the best thing you can do is to make a test item that you can bake so you don't risk your main item.

I used dishwasher safe Mod Podge to glitter a mug. After curing for five weeks and being washed once on the top rack of the dishwasher, it came out a gloppy white mess.

I painted this on a mug I water colored, let it cure for over 28 days (the recommended time) and the first i put it in the dishwasher it bubbled up and flaked right off.

I rarely write reviews but I'm shocked that this gets such high ratings! I bought this to seal ceramic mugs and bowls that my students had decorated, and it came out so streaky and cloudy that their lovely work was ruined. I mixed the product very thoroughly before beginning and applied it as thinly as I could. I tried it with a soft bristle and with a foam brush and both came out equally poorly. What a waste of money. The Krylon Triple Thick Clear Glaze has sealed our designs beautifully and the piece I took home is holding up well in the dishwasher. Too bad it's so smelly that I have to apply it outdoors but at least it does what we need it to.

I have never used this item before but I surely am glad I did now! A little bit goes a long way. And there are so many glass items to decorate out there nowadays that justifies using this great product! Just follow the simple instructions by allowing your "painted" items to cure and you have beautiful decorated glassware!

Do not use this on bakeware. It burns. Usually you can cure items in the oven instead of waiting the 28 days. Not with this product! I wish it had said something about that on the label. I baked a mug and everywhere the glaze hit, the mug and anything underneath turned brown.

I have learnt to put coat of the dishwasher sage mod podge going around a glass then up and down the glass for 2 coats. Doing this makes it safe to put in the dishwasher and not come off.
