The price is just right for these brushes, and they are quality. I would not say they are quality for a professional artist who spends $40 on a brush, of course not. But I have enjoyed using them in my journals, with watercolor, acrylics, twinkling H20's and mica paint. I found one hair too long on one brush, so I snipped it off. But you will not find this overall. I am happy using these brushes for the purpose that I use them.

all the brushes are well made. I wish they were more comfy and had the gelly grip but they work amazing regardless!

Nice variety of small, short-handled amateur brushes. This set typically sells for around $4 to $6 in stores like Target and W*****t, which is where I bought them. At a price of $20 or more, I cannot recommend them as you can buy much higher quality student-grade brushes or even artist grade brushes for that kind of money. For under $6, they are a good buy for crafts, miniature work, practice and amateur projects and a good way to test out some different types of short-handled brushes. Note that this set only contains one tiny filbert, so if you are a beginning oil or acrylic painter on a budget, you would likely be better off purchasing a couple of full-size, long-handled filberts to start off (maybe an 8 and a 12).

Some people have posted comments about how hard and stiff artist brushes often are right out of the packet - lol, this is because the manufacturers generally coats them to shape the brushes and keep them in shape until they are used. This coating needs to be gently washed off with mild soap and water before first use - even if there is no coating, artist brushes should be gently washed before first use and then gently cleaned and/or conditioned each time after they are used.

I am just starting out painting after a 50 year absence from when I learned oil painting at age 10. I bought the All Media Easel Artist Set which gives you a good assortment of oil, acrylic and watercolors to experiment with. I think that set is a good value for beginners and it comes in a really nicely made wooden box that gives you a place to store all your art supplies. The brushes and plastic pallet knives that come with this set aren't very good for serious work so I bought this One Stroke Folk Art Brush Pack and the Stainless Steel Pallet Knife 5-Piece Set.

I am very pleased with the wide variety and feel of these brushes. The price is right too (10 brushes for $20). I am just doing simple painting projects now, like making some signs. I bought both of Nancy Reyner's books Acrylic Revolution and Acrylic Innovation. These books are excellent for beginners. They give you hundreds of painting tips plus basic stuff like how you use and take care of your painting tools. They are like having a private teacher to answer all your questions. She has created two "must have" books for people like myself who can't take a formal painting class. The only thing I need now is to develop my skills and I am looking forward to many hours of painting and learning.

I highly recommend all the products and books mentioned above. All of them are available from Amazon.

Not a whole lot to say about these brushes. They are cheap but that is okay. There are times when you simply need a cheap brush to throw or smear on paint, especially on rough surfaces, and you do not want to mess up your expensive brushes.

These work fine for that. I do a lot of painting on old barn wood, wooden panels and such, and much of it does not require extremely delicate strokes. These brushes hold paint well, have a good ridged feel to them and for the price, surprisingly hold up quite well.

If you destroy one of them, something I often do, or forget to thoroughly clean them, which I often do, or if a grandchild wants to "paint something," which they often do, then this is a good buy as you do not have the family fortune tied up in them.

Nice cheap work horse that will not bust your budget.

My wife uses these for her painting and has over the years tried many other types of brushes but none hold up like these. While others have had the brush head fall off, paint chip off the handle, stray bristles come off and loose shape. None of that has happened to these. They have all lasted until she decides when they are done.

I was very excited to try these brushes, but I'm very disappointed with them. I'm quite new to painting, so I may not understand how to use these particular brushes. Bristles are stiff and coarse. They do hold a lot of paint, but applying with a smooth edge is a real challenge. I seem to wash more paint out of these brushes than ever makes its way to the canvas. Also, the handles started peeling after first use and are nearly bare now after a week of use.

Great set of brushes to work with & clean. They keep their shape but like everything else, you need to care for them. After cleaning I use clear dish soap and massage it on the bristles till I use them again.
