Vogue E401 Plain Plastic Scraper
Enhance your purchase
Made from polypropylene, this high quality pastry scraper is an absolute kitchen essential. It features a flexible rounded edge to help you easily manipulate dough and remove sticky batches from counter tops. It is also great for scraping ingredients out of bowls, as its curved shape allows you to gain access to all corners with ease.

The curved 'blade' has some rough points and isn't very flexible for bowl scraping. The straight edge is blunt, designed for holding rather than cutting, so isn't great for dividing dough or scraping work surfaces. It isn't at all satisfying to use either.
I have a stainless steel scraper for dough cutting and scraping flat surfaces (similar to this one Kitchen Craft Cutter Scraper Stainless Steel but mine came from a kitchen shop in Devizes and cost less). It's a delight to handle and use but of course no good as a bowl scraper.
Actually, the best bowl scraper I've ever found is the spatula that Kenwood supply with Chefs. It can be bought separately (see Kenwood mixer food spatula ) but may be cheaper in multiples from a certain auction site. It doesn't work so well with heavy doughs, though, being designed more for scraping remnants from bowls than lifting doughs, so I'm going to buy a silicone scraper to supplement it - there are several available from Amazon. I'll use the silicone scraper on bowls and the stainless one for everything else.
