Amy Lillard captures my heart with her character building skills making the dear to me. Sadie is so dedicated to her family, her Mamm, her sisters, and brother and her love. She almost makes the mistake of a lifetime by not following her heart.Sadie's commitment to her Faith and Heart are deep causing her to struggle between her Amish roots and Mennonite "friend"! Her virtues could prevent Sadie's from finding that deep abiding love we all seek. As you read Just Plain Sadie you will love that she is not so Plain. Amy Lillard scores a 10 stars and the series is 20 stars!

Sadie has been best friends with Chris for as long as she could remember, but he had told her he had saved money and come June he was going to Europe. He said he was coming back, but she knew he wouldn't. He had a wanderlust about him and he hated farming.

Then she met Ezra, a nice, good looking Mennonite man with a ranch, who raised exotic animals for meat. They hit it off right away. There were problems, mostly due to the different religions; but then that is a big problem. They had told each other "I Love You", but then something happened and Sadie promised God if He would help her, she would be a good Amish girl, stay home, marry an Amish boy and forget Ezra.

A beautiful but gut wrenching story. In my mind, I knew it would turn out the way I wanted it to, but I confess by the time Sadie made her promise to God, I had to peek at the end to make sure how it would end. I never do that, but this story was getting to me and I had to ease my nerves.

A most definite must read!

This is my first trip to Wells Landing and I have to say I'll be back again! The book is a part of a series but easily stood alone for me. I was drawn into the story very quickly.

Sadie has been friends with Chris forever. They actually have a really great friendship. She was hoping for more but Chris decided he wants to travel. Across the sea! Sadie is crushed and feels betrayed. Then she meets Ezra and you can feel the sparks fly right from the start. But he's a Mennonite, she's Amish, and their friends and family are both trying to keep them apart. Who will Sadie choose?

Amy's book was fantastic. It kept me guessing and I had a very hard time putting it down. Her characters are very well done (little Daniel stole my heart), the story moves at a good pace, and even though it's a part of a series the characters and back stories were well explained so I didn't feel like I missed anything.
