Ella's vivid descriptions and attention to detail, always catch my eye more than anything and this book didn't disappoint in that area (I want to visit Alabama); however what stood out to me most, was the relationship between Gabe and Marley. I LOVE THIS COUPLE! They seem more real then most other characters I've read. They argue, they do stupid stuff to each other - just because (I giggled a lot!) ... and they make up; their chemistry is off the charts. The end had me wiping tears from my cheeks; it wasn't what I had expected.
I'm a fan of Ella's books, I've read them all and I know I say this about each of her books, but I really loved this one! The Plan is well written and worth reading. Congratulations Ella on another great book!
The Plan was a non stop tension building, full of angst, hot sex, and a dirty talking alpha male story that I devoured!
Ella James gives us these 2 broken characters Gabe and Marley, they married young, divorced even quicker, and meet up 12 years later.
The connection at times between Gabe and Marley seemed forced. However at other times it was so natural. Both years after the divorce are dealing with their own demons. Gabe tends to try and vanquish his in the bottle, Marley seems to have a plan for hers! She wants a baby, who better to give her one then her ex husband.
The Plan was my very first Ella James book. But after reading and enjoying this one so much, I definitely plan to read more.
“I’m a doctor, I’m a daughter, I’m a friend, and I want desperately to be a mother. And maybe I still want my ex-husband– just a little.”
Marley wants to be a mom more than anything. After her first couple of attempts failed she decided to move back home to be closer to her sick mother. She was expecting to lay low and save some money by working at the clinic. What she wasn’t expecting was her Ex husband to be there especially not that she would have to live right above him. She hasn’t seen Gabe in years. He is looking better than ever but he is still a big jerk. He doesn’t want her here but that is not stopping her from moving in. She thinks that she can avoid him but living so close together is making that difficult. They can’t seem to stay away from each other. When Marley finds out Gabe’s big secret on why he is really back it breaks her heart, but it also gives her an idea. Gabe would make the perfect baby daddy. He is sexy as hell and the chemistry is still there. He would make an amazing dad if he really wants to be so she ask him. When he says yes she is thrilled but all the time they spend together and all the sex(so hot) is making all those old feeling that never really went away come back to the surface.
“Because I want her. I want Something. I want Marley.”
Gabe is hiding out in Fate. Something horrible has happened to him and he just needs to escape for a while to try and processes it. The last thing he needs is for Marley to be back in town. His ex wife living above him is not what he wanted. He thought if he was a big enough jerk she would leave but of course it doesn’t work it never did with Marley. Seeing her everyday and hearing her one floor above him is hard. He still loves her(even if he doesn’t want to admit it). When she comes to him with the crazy plan of making a baby together he agrees. He wants her and he would love to be a dad. He pushed Marley away once he has to try and do different this time he wants to be better for her.
This was so good! I LOVE Gabe and Marley they are such a wonderful couple I can’t get enough of them. Gabe’s secret is so heart breaking oh my gosh! This book has a lot of build up and I loved that. They don’t just jump to the baby making the have a connection and let it grow and I think it was perfect! Ella James writes such amazing books and this was no exception! This is such a wonderful book! You guys should definitely read this one you will love it!
Gabe and Marley were married when they were young, and now, twelve years after their divorce, they find themselves reunited in a way: she's renting an apartment in the same house where he lives. Their reunion, however, is far from joyful. Each holds resentments toward the other, although these largely are borne of misunderstandings.
Marley knows one thing: she wants to have a baby. And since Gabe is all brawny virility - not to mention wicked hot - why not grab onto his DNA and make this baby? First, though, she needs to convince Gabe, and he is more than a little reluctant. What Marley needs is a plan, even if it isn't necessarily fool-proof.
Ella James infuses this book with depth and poignancy. There is more to both Gabe and Marley than you might expect. For instance, Marley struggles with some ambivalence toward her mother, and I really enjoyed the scenes in which she tries to navigate her way through those struggles. They felt real, as does Gabe's grief over some struggles he faces.
The sexy times have the perfect amount of detail, and they will leave you gasping and panting. James refers several times to Gabe's manliness and size, so you will have no trouble picturing him when he's rocking the headboard. And you will thank her for every one of those tidbits. Gabe gives new meaning to the phrase "best-laid plans."
