FluidStance creates beautifully designed tools that bring motion to any common work or meeting area. From your standing desk to the conference room to your living room, the FluidStance Plane is designed to give you a little bit of fitness by adding movement and balance to your day.
Your Body Was Designed to Move
Many of us find that our daily motion is limited, whether we're tied to our computers or just too busy to venture out for periodic walks or other activity. Whether you're on your laptop, tablet, phone, or TV, FluidStance decks allow you to engage in natural movement while remaining focused on the task at hand. The Plane encourages you to connect with your body and improve your balance by engaging your leg muscles; its 360° motion allows for twisting moves that activate your core and keep you moving.
- Increases heart rate by 15%
- Allows for an average range of motion of 23.98 degrees
- Maintains limits of motion to levels that are comparable to walking
We Believe in Doing Good for the Planet
At FluidStance, we prioritize sustainability. Over 90% of The Plane is composed of post-industrial recycled materials, such as recycled plastic and tires. Not only that, but with the exception of a few screws, the entire product can be recycled by you at home, helping to reduce landfill over time. The Plane is good for you, and good for the planet!
- The base is made from #2 recycled plastic, one of the strongest high-molecular HDPEs (high density polyethylene)
- The top deck is made of nearly 100% recycled 3/16" low-emitting rubber for comfort and durability
- The center weight is formaldehyde-free MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard), made from recycled sawdust
Make Your Screen Time Active
Did you know that the average American spends over 10 hours a day in front of a screen, most of it sitting? Being active and healthy is more important than ever. The Plane gives you a fitness boost by increasing your range of motion and elevating your heart rate. If you can’t be somewhere else (running, cycling, surfing, hiking, working out), you can be on The Plane making screen time healthier.
Our lives today are highly portable and we can do virtually anything from anywhere. Sending emails, watching TV, cooking, talking on the phone, posting on social media, gaming? The Plane can be used while you're doing all of these. Its clean and stylish design means it can live anywhere, whether at work or in your family room. And, it’s compact and easily stored out of the way.
After personally noticing the negative effects of a sedentary workday, FluidStance founder Joel Heath had the idea for our beautifully designed motion platforms that inspire movement and reinvent what it means to “work.” Wherever you are, our focus is on movement as the ultimate solution—in which the combination of sitting, standing, and “flowing” are the keys to a happy day.

This board is the first that I have that has the recyclable parts and composite top and it is the sleekest of the three so far. Students were excited to try it out and I even find myself using it at my standup desk to help me get my work done. I have never felt in danger or worried about someone falling and students and other staff all use it respectfully.
The range of motion actually makes my body feel better when I come home after work as I am less sedentary. I have noticed a difference in my energy levels and the ability to focus for several of the students who no longer see it as a toy but as a tool to help them focus. Grades haven't been better in a long time (I swear it!).
Try it out with a stand up desk. You won't be disappointed.
The deck is super solid with a fantastic grip on the standing area. The underside of deck has soft rubber pieces in the upper most corners. This is helpful to keep the deck from sliding out from under you if you lose balance... when tilted to the extreme, the rubber makes contact with the floor. This also helps keep the deck in place if you are intentionally rocking it (toe raises for example).
They have a 30 day money back guarantee... but you'll never have to use it.
I love that I'm able to engage the core and the glutes and constantly shift the weight across my entire body instead of putting a large continuous load on my quads and calves
The price point on this thing is high but it's definitely the premium option for a serious computer worker. I actually like this style more than their more expensive option because it seems more rugged and durable due to its rubberized build as opposed to wood. I think this would be more enticing at the $150 price point but if you've got the money and you have a standing desk I think this is one of the best investments you can make into your body.
I first came across Fluidstance while searching for a new standing desk mat and was intrigued by the concept. If you're a standing desk fan, you likely already know that standing is just as bad for you as sitting all day - tight muscles, cramps, fatigue, etc - that is, unless you find ways to keep moving: dancing around at your desk, hopping, doing partial squats, etc. So this concept instantly made sense to me - it lets you keep moving without being nearly as disruptive to your work as all those other "active standing desk" techniques.
The problem is... these "decks" are pricey. The Plane starts at $200 and it just goes up from there. Ultimately, I ordered The Original because I am a very tall, heavy dude... and I needed the extra length and weight limit. Let me tell you... despite the price, I LOVE my Fluidstance deck. I can finally stay on meet all day without feeling tired or sore, and without the overwhelming urge to sit every couple hours. It lets you pivot, rotate, fidget, and just generally keep moving all day - so you avoid the muscle fatigue and tightness that comes from being stationary for long periods.
But best of all is what the deck has done for my back: I've had horrible back problems my whole life... and when I spend the day on my Fluidstance deck, at the end of the day, I feel nice and loose - no back pain, no tightness, no painful spasms or shooting sciatic pain. I wasn't entirely sure I was going to keep the deck given the expense... but as it turns out, this is the standing desk accessory never knew I needed. If my deck keeps me out of the chiropractor's office even once (and I have no doubt it will), then it was absolutely worth the price.
