Plane Sight is a small laser device which easily attaches to almost any golf club. The laser light will show you where the butt of the club is pointing. As you swing the club, you will actually see three distinct red laser lines - during your backswing.
Top customer reviews
I noticed that it can come loose if you're swinging hard, especially if you hit balls with Plane Sight in the club. Therefore I always wrap a bit of tape around to hold it in place.
This might not be for everyone - there were a lot of good things in my swing (release, tempo, balance), but being off plane was causing inconsistent impact conditions. Therefore this specifically tackled the issues I was struggling with, hence the great results. There's no substitute for a good teacher and some quality slow motion video analysis.
I also have been reading Kelvin Miyahira on drive/hold and club face stability, and that in combination with this have turned my game around.
It gives you a clear view of what you're going on your back-, down-swing and follow through. Not a the top though but you're on plane on your back- and down-swings then I think you can assume you're OK at the top.
The great thing about it is that you can see your swing plane when you're swinging and without having to look around.
A heads up: you can't see the laser in bright sunlight (presumably it would have to be strong enough to cut your toes off to see it in that much light). It's usable in cloudy conditions but really great at dusk which, in my books, is the only time to use it.
What would have been really nice is a jig to rig this up to your putter.
