Dean Hartwell (author of Facts Talk but the Guilty Walk: The 9/11 No Hijacker Theory and Its Indictment of Our Leaders and Dead Men Talking: Consequences of Government Lies) wrote in the Preface of this 2011 book, "I accept the burden of proof. In general, I will prove that no passengers were hijacked or killed on September 11, 2001."

He makes the argument that "the lack of plane evidence at the sites where planes were alleged to have struck gives credence to the idea that the planes that flew actually landed elsewhere." (Pg. 18) Less convincingly, he speculates that the Flight 11 passengers might have joined the United 175 passengers; "the plane could have used the runway to take the passengers around a corner to Gate 19 and the passengers deplaned ... as if in a hurry to catch United 175. While it is true that no one has gone on record as having noticed passengers getting off... the hurrying of passengers is common in airports and would not likely have caught attention." (Pg. 38-41, 57)

Observing that 16 of the 58 passengers on Flight 11 worked in classified positions in the Defense Department, he adds, "It should make us wonder if these passengers were perhaps blackmailed into their participation in the plot..." (Pg. 50) The pilots of Flights 175 and 93 "could have been unwilling participants," or else they "could have been a part of the plot." (Pg. 84-85)

He faces the question of "why a person would leave their family and friends and take on a new life or why they would agree to participate in a plot such as this one," suggesting, "some people in our society would see 9/11 ... (as) an opportunity to change United States policies ... Some passengers could have been blackmailed into participating." (Pg. 88-89)

He suggests that 19 passengers of "Arab appearance... would steal the names of people who had attended flight schools... The other passengers could simply get new identities." (Pg. 103-104) He also suggests that the plotters "may have used mock funerals... to convince the public of plane passenger deaths." (Pg. 110) He concludes, "the passengers are still among us. They have different names and live in different places and are monitored by those who ran the plot. I know I cannot prove this last part but I truly believe that it is the most likely possibility." (Pg. 120)

Hartwell's highly speculative book hardly meets his own "burden of proof"; still, it is a very creative examination of certain lines of argument, and will interest some "Truthers."

This slim book with print so large as to be more appropriate for a five year old relies exclusively on secondary sources. There were some very interesting facts that I had not seen before in other 9/11 books. That the Social Security Death Index only had between 13% to 28% of the passengers listed on the planes manifests was startling. Equally surprising was the fact that only 10 of 266 passengers' families had made a claim to the Victims 9/11 Compensation Fund. And, just like the failure of the government to provide closed circuit TV of the Pentagon except for one of very poor quality there is a total lack of CCTV for most of the boarding gates for the four airliners.
This is a good start but it needs diagrams, maps, and some primary source material that would make this a book to recommend.

This is an important contribution to the discussion of 9/11, although not very well formatted or edited. The details of the reality behind the planes of 9/11 have always been a question of mine, and Hartwell starts the ball rolling by bringing to light key facts. What we know and do not know about the planes. The facts definitely suggest a black op with a high number of paid personnel either acting willingly or out of blackmail for the conspirators' ends. It's very likely nobody was killed in any of the four supposed planes that have been advertised as integral to the official story, and the planes seen on video are drones or APVs.

This second edition introduced to me the group Pilots For 9/11 Truth. From reports from Pilots, we might conclude that there WERE no passengers, that NO planes were involved, and that crashed planes were discovered to be STILL ALOFT after they had presumably crashed. Makes you wonder...

I chose the rating because of the importance of the author's proposal. It got me to thinking and it will for anybody who reads it,

Still reading this one, but it a really interesting look at the "supposed story" or "accepted narrative" of what happened, and the TRUTH about what really did happen.

Not a lot to read and (for me) a bit difficult to follow. The issue of passengers is very contentious. There needs to be a thorough official investigation into the official version of events, but don't hold your breath!

Though some of the arguments are just theories, they are more believable than the official story, which does not have ant tangible facts and evidence.
