Be aware that the BRT Strap won't work until you pull a little plastic tab from the edge of the battery compartment that protects the battery from discharge before customer use.
A few more nighttime bicycle safety recommendations:
Don't miss the Planet Bike Sport Spot 4 LED Bicycle Light with Head, and Handlebar Mounts and Planet Bike Blinky "3H" 3-Led Rear Bicycle Light with Self Leveling Helmet Mount as a combo to mount on your helmet. It's fantastic to be able to point a light at drivers just by looking at them, plus the tail light swings and thus sort of flashes without using the flash mode. These lights are very light weight. I hardly know I have them mounted on my helmet. Most people who see me with them on my helmet think they're great. These two should be sold as a combo since the headlight takes three batteries, and the rear light takes one, so you can easily recharge four NiMH batteries at a time.Read more ›
However, a word of warning: it can rotate. I'm an endurance cyclist, and I'd love to wear something like this as an ankle band. However, while it fits just fine around an ankle and can be tightened up tightly, it will end up rotating as you move. You'll notice that your ankle is somewhat pointy around the back of it (your achilles tendon). This light is stiff around the on/off button. That means that it will end up rotating so that that on/off button is just to the side of your achilles tendon - which means that barely any of the lit up or reflective portion is visible from behind you anymore. This is irrelevant if you want to wear it around a more circular part of your body, such as your calf, upper arm, or around thick clothing. But don't count on it for your ankle.
My only other minor criticism of it is that it attaches by means of a clip, which means that when you tighten it up, it has a tail hanging out. You probably don't care much about this if you're a runner / walker, but you do need to watch out for that if you're a biker so that it doesn't get caught up in your spokes or gears. It's easy to deal with that - just wrap the tail underneath the band - but it would be nice not to have to do that.
Plastic hook doesn't seem too strong. The reflectivity of the yellow part might be better, it claims to be visible from about 2000 feet but I have yet to test it with someone's car Lights.
It won't hurt to have this on a leg or arm as it is cheap to buy. Made in China. I went riding and it kept falling down my pants, so be sure to keep checking if its there over time. I use it on my right leg for side visibilty when cars approach the road. It's good for that.

I like this product, I ordered 3 of them. The only problem I have is that one did not work when I received it and would not respond with new batteries, so I think it might have... Read morePublished 7 months ago by Elenor Mahouski
Makes cycling at night safer because of its high visibility. It also doesn't weigh very much and is readily attached to ones leg or armPublished 8 months ago by raguido

These are great. Lots of lighted area makes you easier to see and the strap holds better than standard Velcro straps. Read morePublished 16 months ago by RandomGravy
I've used these almost every day for over a year. They are my go to strap for keeping my pants against my leg, using as bike hazard lights, or even running in the evening. Read morePublished 17 months ago by davedub
I use this for running, not bicycling (on unlit shared-use trails, trying to be seen by cyclists). Works well for that. Read morePublished 18 months ago by Amazon user
